9.1 - Savior - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

finally Clark has the balls to stand up to Chloe...and with good reason

WOW looks like a good season, maybe Chloe dies?

they should of had a 2hr premier.

IMO, best Season Premiere i've enjoyed awhole lot since season 6

So far so Good. I like where Clark seems to be heading. The Zod stuff is very interesting, and I love Clark sticking with his decision and not caving to what Chloe wants. There are always repercussions for screwing with time. Clark knows this, and Chloe's got to deal with it.

Wow. GREAT return for the show.

So many good things. Most noteably the guy who plays Zod is un-fricking-beleivable. Awesome job by him. He was Stamp's Zod in so many ways, but yet still played it enough his own way. Great, great job.

All of the Clark and Jor El stuff was awesome as well. And Welling could have a clown costume on and the dude would still SCREAM Superman to me.

Erica was great as usual. I'll go out on a limb now and say I like her as Lois best of all, even ahead of Margot Kidder. All of her scenes were great with Ollie and the notorious B.A.G.

Only thing I didnt like in this episode was Chloe. She yet again comes off as a jealous whiner for most of the ep. And that last scene that she had with Clark where she got pissy with him b/c he wouldnt go back in time to save Jimmy, almost made me throw something at my TV.

Still not liking this Friday night crap however.

Overall 4.5 out of 5

So from what I could gather of Lois' flashes we have....

- City of metropolis flying the banners of Kandor
- Clark (flying?) and wearing the symbol of Zod
- Clark and Lois doing.... well you know
- Tess kneeling before Zod and receiving a military dogtag
- Oliver covering up a grave
- Chloe dying

ok well its finally premire night. First off got to say it was a pretty great episode. Though opening scene/opening credits my cw affilate was all screwed up and i had visuals but no audio. So i dont know what was said in the recap/opening parts. Though the look of things were great. Also the new visuals in the opening credits look great. I liked the new additions of season 9 footage and past season stuff.

I am glad i got audio back for the rest of the episode. The clark saving the train scene looked great. I thought the sfx were super pun intended for the whole episode. I hope they hold through the season. It does look like they got alot more money for at least the opening scene.

Acting all around was great. It was wonderful to her stamp return as the voice of jorel his scenes with clark were very good and i liked how they were interacting well with each other now. They should have been like this years ago. Tom welling as clark he pulled another good preformance out of the episode. His conflicting emotions and trying to be kryptonian and drop his human emotions should be an interesting storyline for the season. Allison mack was good too. Her fear of being along and trying to do things by herself she pulled a wonderful acting here. Emil's actor it was great to see him again, really hope they have him around more. Also i thought he pulled the techno bubble stuff well. Nice to see chloe isnt the only one for that department any more.

Callum's blue zod was pretty interesting. Smallville has always done pretty well with casting for characters. I think they hit it off the park with callum. He was strong, bold, cunning and should be a great villain this season. Erica's lois was another highlight of the episode. She is getting better and better i think through the years. It great to see her growing devotion to the blur.

Brian austin green as john corben was another good casting move i think. I enjoyed his work on TSCC. He seemed to be a pretty interesting character and i liked his scene in the tram with lois kissing her and then showing up again at the end of the episode in the daily planet. Cant wait to see how he pulls off metallo next week. also hopefully they wont kill him off after episode 2.

Writing i think souders and peterson i think redeemed them selfs a bit with the writing compared to doomsday. I thought the dialoge was good. They set up some interesting things with chloe/emil, tess/zod, zod and his followers, and the storyline for the season with clark and lois. Also i thought the fight in the barn with alia was pretty good too. Much better then the lois/tess fight or the non fight with doomsday in season finale. Also i think kevin fair did another good job with directing, he had good visuals, and i thought the angles the episode was shot in were good and pacing i thought was pretty good.

I wonder when we are going to learn more about from what point in the past they came to earth from krypton/kandor and why they are her. also interesting thing is how did alia end up in the future with powers but in present day no powers. Also cant wait to see what her connection with clark is. Also the training scenes with jorel and clark were pretty good. The fos looked great and i loved how they were doing the spinning kryptonian writing. Also that hologram testing of flying was pretty neat.

It was great also to hear about jimmy, kara and others who are missing or gone. As for the reason for no flying it works but hopefully they will figure out how he can have his human emotions and still unlock his full powers. Also what a sweet tease at the end of lois's vision from the future she was in.

I feel like the Clark and Lois talk at the end was cut short. I'm looking forward to more Clark and Lois interaction next week!

oh there was probably a little more to their talk that was cut due to time my guess. Also man does the new watchtower set up looks sweet as hell.

Yeah I know, when they showed her in the Talon I was all "what the heck did he say to her".

as i said my cw affilate was having audio problems at the start of the episode did any one elses cw affilate screwed up at all during the airing?

Good episode, nice way to start off the season. Oh man, Zod is definitely a badass and I definitely look forward to seeing more of him. Tom Welling also has stepped it up quite a bit, Clark has really grown and it's rather apparently. I loved his line to Chloe "I'm not a God", shows that he's starting to accept who he is. I'm not too sure what to think of Brian Austin Green, though...I'm not a fan of his portrayal so far. Maybe next week will change my mind. Overall, great start so far.

ok i guess mine was just screwed up. Urrgh, now i have to dl the episode later so i can hear the audio from the start scenes of the episode. By chance who did the previously on smallville bit this year?

I believe it was Oliver.

Great episode all around. I like the fact they mentioned the flying in the beginning. I think he will be flying by the end of the season.

thanks john locke i was just wondering cause as i said i had no audio for the start of the episode.

Thanks guys for saying if your cw affilates were normal or messed up like mine. I gues my affilate jsut had some hiccups. Darn i wish episodes were reaired during weekends again so i could retape it. Though i will just download it tomorrow.

what are your guys thoughts of the pimped out watchtower. I thought that set looks so great. Way better then ISIS.
