9.1 - Savior - Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

WOW, I have to say, this premiere was both amazing and confusing! One good thing is, this feels like a whole different level for the series in terms of look and feel. This finally feels like an actual Superman series, I don't know, but that opening teaser alone left a big old grin on my face.:woot:

The Good:

The Opening teaser- It wasawesome! I loved how it jumped right into the story with Lois' arrival, especially when Clark saves the train and the shot of Clark on top of the building looking down.

Clark-Hard to believe this is the same kid who obsessed over what's her face for 8 years. He's Superman in all black and his confidence was through the roof, even Jor-El couldn't keep up. Tom just nailed it. Oh and nice calling CHloe out on her stupidity!:yay:

Training!!!-Need I say more?

Lois-She kicked ass...literally! Loved all her scenes and Erica was wonderful throughout.

Special effects-WTF!? I'm guessing without the Doomsday suit and one less cast member, the show budget has some extra money lying around...thank GOD! The special effects was stunning, especially that train sequence..WHOW!

The Fight scenes-There were actually 2 decent fight scenes in this episode and one of them was Clark's fight!:wow: I'm guessing they got a decent fight coordinator to this season. I'm guessing those were the writers' apology for the horrendous lack of fight between Clark and DD in the finale!:whatever:

Callum as Zod-PERFECTION! So much power and passion in his delivery. He actually brings a complexity to Zod that I saw in his acting. I can't wait to see more of him.

BAG as John Corben-Almost forgot about him! He was good and did well, but I'm more interested in how he plays Metallo next week!

Emil Hamilton-Really a great addition and I couldn't help but LOL when he made Chloe seem dumb!:woot:

Lois' vision-Yay! Chloe dies!...uhh the other stuff was cool too! lol:woot:

The suit-I don't care what anyone says, seeing the "S" finally on Clark's chest is EPIC!

The Bad:

Some confusion-So Lois went back a year into the future? Was Alia Clark's future lover? Then why was Clark having sex with Lois in the future? Why did Alia bring blue kryptonite with her? So if it wasn't Zod and the Kandorians intention to come to Earth, who the hell was the voice and brought them there? My head hurts a little!

Tess and Oliver-They weren't bad, they were good, just wish we saw more of them. But I got the idea of where they're headed this season, so it's okay I guess.

The Ugly:

Chloe-Wow, how mighty has this character fallen in a year. I have never disliked Chloe this much since Season 3. I understand Chloe is still moruning Jimmy and is not thinking straight, but that last scene with her and Clark was uncalled for. She went from respecting Clark's new direction to saying he's not human because he doesn't want to do something she asked for? Hello Chloe, Time travel=BAD! I can honestly say Chloe has run her course. Why can't Emil just take over Watchtower and send Chloe packing. Hopefully Chloe is redeemed by season end, but I doubt it.:o

Again, awesome premiere, it was fast paced, but didn't feel too rushed like "Doomsday". The writers did well by setting a nice and refreshing tone for the 9th season, Clark seems more heroic and focused than ever, Lois is front and center and Zod as well as his army have my attention. Please writers, don't pull a "Doomsday" or "Lana arc" and f@#% this up!:cmad:

Clark finally a man this year thank the lord.

Yeah I loved Clark in this episode. Of course the children on twop who think this show is about young Chloe Sullivan becoming....well whatever she becomes, are all complaining about how horrible Clark treated her. Sorry to rant but I really hate people who watch this show with no intentions of seeing him become Superman.

oh totally clark was more out there and kicking butt, and being assertive(spelling?). Also a good review tempest. As for chloe i always been a fan of her character since the start of the show, but i agree she was a bit *****y with clark. But if you had a ring to travel through time and something bad happened you would want to fix it.

I'm hoping Chloe's attitude is temporary, I also could have lived without her acting jealous when she thought Lois was communicating with Clark and then again when she realized Clark had come back for Lois. I really enjoyed Chloe being a cheerleader for those two last year and I hope they don't revert to 15 year old jealous Chloe.

I love Metropolis atmosphere. A dark and grity city needing of a saviour.

Great episode all around. I like the fact they mentioned the flying in the beginning. I think he will be flying by the end of the season.

Don't count on it, TPTB have this brilliant idea that Clark won't fly till he becomes Superman (series finale), not very logical, they still believe in the no flights rule. :whatever:

Kelly Souders: Clark Kent won't really become Superman until he takes to the skies. We all have our stumbling blocks; his are just air-born. Until he can fully embrace his double-life, he'll have a hard time getting off the ground. But, we will say, his "leaps" are getting closer and closer to the real thing.

As others have said, great premiere, Clark is almost Superman, he showed Chloe she was wrong, she has to deal with the consequences of her mistakes. Everybody did an awesome job, Callum Blue rocks as Zod, in my opinion, he's the best villain since the magnificent bastard, Lionel. The Alia/Clark fight was pretty good, much better than "Doomsday", same for the train sequence. We even have a few misteries, who is Alia (Alura?) and her relationship to Clark, why Zod and his army don't have powers, why they're here, why Lois travel only one year into the future, etc. S9 will be much better than last season, guaranteed.

 :super:

The premiere was good, but I'm not getting my hopes up just yet. The first half of season 8 was good too, and we all know how that ended.

Yeah, lol its only the entire POINT of the show :D

Exactly!:hehe:

I loved Clark tonight and it infuriates me to see Chloe fangirls convincing themselves he must be the Eradicator or something just because he told Chloe it's bad to mess with destiny.

It's a shame. She used to be a favorite of mine (and many others I'm sure) Now she's just an annoying waste of space. Thank goodness Lois Lane is on the show.

Like I said hopefully it's all temporary and she will be doing cool things at the WT.

well she could get better over the season. Bet she and clark will be in a better place by mid season. I asked this over in page 10, what do you guys think of the pimped out watchtower set.

I love the new Watchtower set. It's more spaced out that the ISIS one was. Gives Chloe more to work with.

That looked sweet and I really like Dr. Hamilton I hope he is around a lot this season.

It's a good start. The scene with Chloe and Emil talking about the time rips was pretty cool.

yea i got to say i glad they went all out for watchtower totally looks and feels like a true superhero HQ.

"Savior" was much better than "Odyssey", and Zod is a real villain unlike whiney Davis. I'm not saying everything will be great, the reason for Clark not flying is just a lame excuse from TPTB to keep him from being Superman, and they have to be careful with how they manage Clark and Lois' relationship, so it doesn't get repetitive.

I hope the ratings aren't crap. I guess it was the #3 search on Yahoo today so that has to be a good sign. At least people have it on the brain.

well it will probably be better then the crap that was clana.

god chloe was so annoying. they just should just kill her already.

I'm hoping Allison stays strong and doesn't sign on again. That way if they get renewed for S10 they will probably kill her off with style, a little more than 1/2 way through the season ala Pa Kent and Lionel.

I just never understood how that character got such a bizarre cult like following.

Is just a small minority, some of them pretty crazy to insult and hate Erica Durance (not just Lois).

I know! I never understood it myself. The woman could do no wrong.

As good as this episode is I just can't get excited. So many times that show has started strong & went to crap for the next 20 episodes. Only to get good again at the last episode.

I am really, really, really, glad that Davis is not Zod. That actor was horrible.
