U said a mouthful I agree with a lot of what you say... But one thing.
I think Welling has the presence it's his acting that needed helping at first.
Now he's becoming a very good actor, and he plays the role with such perfection.

You know you could very well be right about his presence I can't say one way or another until I see him in the suit. I really hope they show him in the suit before the show is over so I can see how good he is in the role. The only problem is if he does capture what I would want in a Superman I will be very sad that he won't be playing him in the movies and if WB thinks like that they may not let him wear the suit at all in the series. The more I think about it with the right director and writers they could probably pull off a cool movie but I really don't think it will happen.

Why is anyone even considering Smallville as an outline for a Superman flick? :down :down :down

Because they like that version. Shocking thought for some people. I'm glad Routh plays him though.

Smallville had some great moments once in a while...When its good, is really good. When its bad, though, its really bad. I`ll stick to Heroes. Maybe them can teach something to writers of Smallville and Singer. Read the ****ing comics!!!

Because they like that version.

...yea but, it is a totally different genre. In SR, Kent lives in a major city, with a job, wears the suit. SV is like..... 90210 with a little action.

Welling is an idiot.

It's a sad time in history when Superman is no longer the #1 superhero everyone looks to :(

What does Welling being an idiot have to do with this being "a sad day in history because Superman is no longer the #1 superhero everyone looks to?"

That makes no sense.... I think you need to blame people like Bryan Singer, Brandon Routh, Dan Harris, Michael Dougherty, the WB, and anyone else associated with that terrible SR movie.

They are the one's who ruined the entire Superman series, and have ran it into the ground... So keep your hate targeted on the right folks.

Why should there be hate for anybody? They are just writers, directors, and actors? Doesn't make sense to me.

Well some people have done a nice job of bringing the character of Superman back to the public eye, and helping introduce the character to an entire new generation, and thus continue the great legacy that is SUPERMAN, and took the torch from the last best known "Superman" Christopher Reeve.

Other people made a really bad movie that made The Phantom Menece look like a masterpiece!
They didn't listen to the fans, went against the source material, and pooped all over the work of the late Chris Reeve.
I don't know as a fan of the character, and Mr Reeve I know who I'm a bit ticked off at...

I love Smallville, but come on, Bareknucklez.

I constantly have to defend the show to people I know that think its badly written and stupid. On message boards, I see people wondering why they still watch the show.

The point is that some people believe Smallville is the abomination to Supes legacy and some don't.

All ill say is money talks. If Welling was offered a one shot deal at the right price, im sure he'd do it. As for Routh it wasnt his fault. He only acted out what was scripted for him. I'd like to see him get another shot preferably with new writers that dont photocopy 30 year old screenplays and pass em off as their own.

Tom Welling is not a critically acclaimed actor, he is decent in Smalville as Clark Kent. His big screen appearances have been less than stellar, so to act as if Tom Welling is the next big thing is ridiculous. The same can be said of Brandon Routh, he has really only been Superman.

Is there any possible way we can now stop talking about Smallville in a Superman Forum. Tom Welling is not Superman, he is Clark Kent and that is it. Let's talk about the Superman sequel starring Brandon Routh as Superman.

The movie needs to start filming, or a script review or something so we can lock some of these threads and get to what we hope to see in the film. Until then, we're just going to be running in circles unfortunately.

Summer 08. Crap!

Bryan Singer directed Superman Returns.

Bryan Singer will direct the next Superman film.

There is no 'change' coming, no sudden 180 degree turn on the approach of the previous movie.

The simple fact is, today's audiences expect superhero movies to be like Spider-Man, and Superman Returns wasn't.

If Singer continues his vision Superman will be edged out by Aquaman soon.:woot:

So long as we allude to Darkseid for part 3, it should rock on smooth from here.

Dude Captain America, Thor, and Aquaman will edge out Superman if Singer stays as Director with his current cast.

This is a sad sad place Singer has put this franchise in...
