A&E 'Look Up In The Sky' 5 Eastern/8PM Pacific 6/12

The only thing i was shocked not to see or wasn't talkled about, was the DCAU superman. i mean they didn't talk about the animated series or juctice league/juctice league unlimited.

the animated features where apart of the myhtos to. so why they leave it out??? even if they didn't have alot fot time to cover S:TAS to JL then JLU they still could have mentioned a little bit.

the show was about superman through the ages.

if they started going into tthe constant updates/revisions to supe's history because of the gol;den age/silver age/modern age/ post pre crisis/ infinite crisis, etc...the vast majority of people out there would be like huh? so is johnathan dead or not? was he ever superboy? it would just confuse everyone.

But the post crisis reboot was part of one of Superman's ages. They should have at least touched upon it.

Kaboom said:
and they DID touch on it. they referenced lex luthor on the serial as bald mad scientist who evolved into business tycoon and eventually into the boyscout's arch-nemesis.

They didn't mention Buisnessman Lex at all.

It was in the second part. It wasn't a particularly long segment, but they said very good things about it.

Does anyone know if the show will aire again?
I *think* it was rebroadcast last night, which doesn't help you, I know. But if it aired twice, which I believe it has, it'll probably air again. Also, somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I *think* this show is to become available on DVD at some point in the future, though it might be as a special feature on the Superman Returns' DVD when it's released in... was it September? October? I'm not sure. I haven't been keeping track.

It will be out on DVD June 20th. It is suppose to come out with Superboy, Lois and Clark Season 3, TAOS, S:TAS (Last season :( ) JL Season 2. S:BA. As I said before this doc has nothing to do with SR. This was something he was asked to make.

P.S. The only thing really said about S:TAS was that it showed that people still loved and wanted Superman and that the cartoon helped get a new movie off the ground. They kind of hinted that B:TAS and S:TAS and JL and JLU helped bring them back and is what turned things around for Superman.

 Thanks.

Whether you wish to believe it or not, the doc does have a tie in with the marketing of Singer's film. And I'll bet you five bucks it ends up on the extended edition of the film's DVD. Wanna bet? Wanna? I've got a PayPal acct. ;) :p

<- Not kidding.

Are you talking about just the Superman Returns DVD or the complet Box Set that is coming out with every last Superman movie? Because I wouldn't doubt it be on the complete box set but as just the stand alone Superman Returns DVD I doubt it. But anyways enough with the movie back on topic.

Box set? No no... LOL. You know when a film is released on video, particularly a BIG film, they often have multiple versions? There's the regular and widescreen versions of the basic film, usually on just a single DVD and sold that way. Then a few months later they'll street an extended edition or "director's cut" with extra goodies, deleted scenes, goofs, documentaries, more commentaries (if they weren't included on the first release), storyboards, blogs, teasers and trailers, behind the scenes vids, Easter eggs, games, and various other stuff. It's a way to double dip the market because people will go back and buy the second set just for the goodies. Lord of the Rings, anybody? ;)

Maybe though I see it going more with Superman II the Directors cut.

i think theyve started triple dipping.

1- full/screen wide screen versions of the film commentaries

2- directors cut with extended versions of scenes, bonus features

3- Special editions, both versions, added special features, with a ticket to an upcoming new release.

and sometimes they quadruple dip!

1- full screen/widescreen

2- full screen/widescreen with commentaries and bonus disks

3- directors cut

4- special edition.

its a sad state of affairs. exploitation of the proletariat i say! Consumers unite! we shall stop buying dvds....errrr.

You forgot Unrated Editions

lol.

yea, and the only reason they are unrated is because they dont let critics screen added material, which may be a line or two here or there. not necessarily because there is "skin" or "graphic content"

^^ No just wait till the 20th and buy the DVD. It has about 30 min we did not see on TV. They talk more about SV on it and talk more about S:TAS

Fanboy Planet has been interviewing Kevin Burns, the doc's director for the last several weeks. Here's what Burns had to say about Smallville in the latest part of the interview:

I had never seen an episode of Smallville. I had never given two instances of thought to Smallville, then I started the doc. I then started working with the material, interviewing Millar and Gough and of course Annette O'Toole, who I thought was a doll.

After looking at some of it, I thought "this looks good. So I bought the first season on DVD. I couldn't. Stop. Watching.

And I bought the second season, and the third season and the fourth season. It's fabulous.

I loved it, and I tell you, it raises the bar a lot. It has actually been in some ways somewhat of a guidepost for Bryan, though not intimidating, because it is so good. I will say that fans of Smallville will be reassured because there's a lot of harmony there, to the extent that Tom Welling plays this kind of good soul who becomes the superhero.

It's so compatible with the way that Bryan and Brandon interpret the role, because you really like Clark. When I say emotional, I mean you ache for his relationship with Lois. It will break your heart. You know how badly he wants her, and in effect he can never have her.

He aches to have a family, and he's an orphan. He aches to belong, somewhere, and he can't.

That was kind of the thread that came through in all the interviews that we did. Ultimately, no matter how invincible or strong, impenetrable or impervious Superman is, his weakness is not just kryptonite. It's his loneliness. Ultimately, he's emotionally very vulnerable.

ok, so I just purchased the DVD, which is longer then the broadcasted version, so thats cool.
But one thing that interested me is (and I don't know if it's been discussed here or not) is, Al and Miles talking about how Superman is only seen 3 times, at birth, in smallville then when he reappears at age 30 as Superman. They were refering to him being a christ figure. So, do you think they plan on having the show go in that direction?
