I've been thinking about this for a while, I think a Ghost Rider animated series would be pretty cool to say the least.

What do you all think?

That depends on who makes it. Every single one of modern Animated Marvel films I've seen has been utter crap compared to DC animated films (With the exception of Dr Strange which was acceptable if not really special).

Of course I haven't seen the Japanese Wolverine and IM, both of which anime look really REALLY promising. If they are indeed what they seem to be, then I'd definitely suggest GR animation to be like them.

I was talking more along the lines of a series, but I agree that DC Animation are light years ahead of Marvel's in pretty much every way.

Uh, I see. That could be really fun but I don't think it's possible. Plus, we all know the only long comic-book Animated Series that mattered was Batman TA ( :) ), something will never EVER happen again on TV :(

Actually 1997's Spawn on HBO is more where the Ghost Rider should come from. That was a cartoon that meant business. Youtube it, if you haven't seen it.

Yeah I know which one you're talking about, I would love to see a Ghost Rider show with that same tone but more action.

Yeah, good call on Spawn's HBO run. That was one of a kind super dark and violent american toon. Sadly like Batman TA, I don't think we will any more see dark and non-comedic animated series ever again.

If CGI prices go down further, we might see a Ghost Rider live action TV series. Now how awesome would that be?

They need to get the movies right first, MS.

Maybe that's not needed. I mean the Spawn had pretty horrible film but its TV run was rather solid.
Heck, right now TV is kinda ahead in terms of quality. Over the last few years we've had some truly classic TV series like The Wire and Breaking Bad while in the realm of Cinema there is only one movie I consider that great (Social Network and even that is debatable).

Of course, there is always the chance to a crappy and cheap TV series for some unlucky superhero (Wonder-woman, Blade,...).

We'll see how this Punisher TV series does. If it is a hit, I think a GR TV series could end up being a reality.

When is the Punisher series suppose to come out anyway?

They're still working on the pilot. I'd say give it a good year or so.

I don't think Punisher TV is gonna do it. The whole thing feels like some kind of CSI type show with a character named "Castle" and some mild vigilante stuff thrown in the mix. Both Punisher and GR are HBO / AMC material.

Awww man, I was hoping to get a full blown badass Punisher show so it could open up the doors for a Ghost Rider show.

I think Japan could make a bad ass Ghost Rider.

I would love for a Ghost Rider series to be done in a similar animation style as Young Justice, only much darker and more mature.

the "occult" trappings of the character would be a dealbreaker for a lot of networks; I'd love to see a GR series, but unless this were produced with prime-time or adult cable in mind, the writers would probably have to come up with another angle besides the Devil/Mephisto and such for the curse.. also, of course, the violence that the character usually engages in would have to be deemphasized.. There would be lots of room to come up with crazy characters for the villains..

It would be nice to see. But I agree it's going to have to go hard and be hosted on a network that's no holds barred.

I think the flaming head would be a b**ch to animated long series.

Spike TV, the same network that brought us the gore-filled "Afro-Samurai".

I think the flaming head would be a b**ch to animated long series.

Not if it's an animated series, rather than a live action series.

I Think Todd McFarlane creator of the spawn animated series would make a really good ghost rider animated series and a dr strange animated series
if made similar to the spawn cartoon same type of drawings same graphic content same dark demonic type of action cartoon it would definately get a worldwide audiece the 2 series could cross over as they have fought the same enemies both battling lords of hells demons vampires and sorcerers:BA
who do you think will make a good ghost rider and dr strange animated series?
