Since Ron Glass died I have been watching Barney Miller like crazy. I barely remembered the show other than the obvious set up.

I'm surprised at how much I think it's REALLY funny with some great characters. I'm ****ing loving Dietrich. I don't think I've ever seen a "classic" sitcom with this much deadpan.

Have y'all heard what's happening in Gatlinburg, TN? Massive forest fire is burning it down. At least 30 structures have been burned down. And the winds are reaching 60mph which is spreading it fast.

Gatlinburg and pigeon forge has been evacuated. Firefighters have said they won't be able to get to everyone. And Ripley's Aquarium which has over 10,000 animals (350 different species) inside is surrounded by this inferno and the employees had to evacuate and leave the animals behind. The animals can survive 24 hours without humans if the power is on. If the power goes out tho... This is ****ing horrible.

I loved Dietrich too. Haven't watched the show in decades, but one of my favorite Dietrich moments was the episode that dealt with the college kid and the bomb.....I will put it in spoiler tags in case you haven't seen it yet.....[BLACKOUT]A college kid was hauled in to the precinct with a large bomb....he says it is an atomic bomb, and they all are arguing about if it is or isn't....Dietrich who hasn't been there during all of this returns, he walks in, looks at the bomb sitting on the counter, and says "Where'd you guys get the atomic bomb?" At that point everyone starts backing up slowly away from it.[/BLACKOUT]

It's a couple of hours away from me. Been there several times (lots of fun) we were planning on going again next spring with our niece and her family....but it looks like the cabin in the hills we usually stay at has burned down....and some of the hotels there are burning to....so not sure what will still be standing or operational then. Sad for the people down there.
