I thought that this was an interesting line in the trailer that gives a big clue to some of the bigger story involving Stane and the Mandarin. Fav confirms that the Mandarin will act as a shadowy Emperor to Stanes Vader in Empires magazine so he is in the movie even if not on film. How do you think this sub plot will play out in this movie and the future film?

He'll (Mandarin) probably get a mention like the Emperor did in Episode 4... I just don't think he'll be directly involved in the story or even have a subplot.

that sounds like something mandy'd say alright

I wonder what they were talking about, a dozen missles, a dozen Iron Mongers? a dozen rings?

Well when he says that line it shows the blueprints for the Mark 1, so...

Maybe this will will be a sub plot for future films. Iron Monger uses the sketches and blueprints of the Mark 1 to construct his Armor, but maybe other people, such as Titanium Man and Crimson Dynamo, are also given the sketches to help them create their armors. This could be part of a larger "Armor Wars" plot in the future films, with Mandarin being behind it all.

GREAT IDEA! Someone needs to start writing the script NOW!

I think you guys have got a pretty big clue as to how ol' Mandy's involved in this one in the new full trailer...and not only with that quote...

Check out the shot of Stark's suspicious kidnapper at around 34 seconds...

;)

If you look at 34 seconds the terrorist(?) appears to be clutching a ring on his finger. Mandarin reference?

Stane has a ring as well. I have a feeling there is a sort of group where each member has a special ring and are led by the Mandarin. But that's just my theory.

C'Mon guys. If they did something crazy like bringing in Titanium Man and the Crimson Dynamo, Iron Man would get creamed going against those two War Machine.:cwink:

I see what you're saying. That's why War Machine will be created.

Sounds like a good idea. The Mandarin has ten leading henchmen: his fingers stretched out across the world.

You really need to stop calling him Mandy. It just makes me think he's going to start dancing around a maypole. :o

Yea,that jumped out at me right away when I saw this the first time.

Particulyy, i think:

IRON MAN II:

Tony is fighting against Justin Hammer, who wants to take control over Stark industries. A Spy called Bethany Cabe, send by Hammer, puts Pepper away and Stark, slowly, jumps on alchoolism. Hammer receives the Sketches and creats a advance armor called ''The Crimson Dynamo'', that commits homicide, leaving Iron Man arch with the guilt. Without other alternatives, Jim Rhodes puts the Mark II suit and becomes War Machine. He is send to the hospital, in coma, after fight Crimsom Dynamo, motivating Stark to creat Mark IV and face off his enemys.

Justin Hammer would just seem like a rehash of Obadiah Stane...

Well spotted, I didnt notice that! Do you think that Mandarin would be a great villain for the Avengers to fight? They could have him lead a superhero army against them, it could work if written well.

Keep the Mandarin in Iron Man, the Avengers can fight HYDRA, Baron Zemo or Ultron.

Good point, I guess Mandarin will be better in Iron man. It will be intersting to see how they build his story into a multiple movie arch. I guess Stane is just a pawn in the madarins plans.

Not necessarily. Will Sal Maroni in TDK seem like a rehash of Carmine Falcone? They're essentially the same type of crime-boss character. Corrupt corporate guys are Stark/Iron Man's stock and trade. Suppose Stane is the Mandarin's pawn/ally(which appears likely), with him gone the Mandarin would need another ally in corporate America as his go to guy. And Hammer wouldn't put on a suit of armor and fight Iron Man like Stane does. More likely he'd have one of his agents do that, like SpyMaster or Ghost, etc.
