In another post I was thinking up a way to redo or update the original, 14 issue "Maximum Carnage" that ran through the Spider-Man titles. If anyone would like to help co-write/script this or just throw around some ideas on the story that would be great. I haven't really ever done a fan-fiction before, so that's why I'd like to work with someone this time around.
The premise is that Cletus Kasady's symbiote mutates/evolves/or something, where it can split pieces of itself off and envelop any living creature of Cletus's choosing. He would control them much like the Skull did in Earth X, so many of the infected retain their personalities and are horrified by their actions. At this point Carnage is being held in a government prison in the basement of the Dark Avengers HQ, so he takes them over first, except Sentry who was on a mission for Washington (I would imagine Sentry being a total government tool like Millers Superman) and Venom, who escapes. Then proceeds to infect all of the Hood's men, and many citizens throughout New York City. Reacting quickly, the US gov completely isolates Manhattan plus Queens, Brooklyn etc. using Stark technology.
Spider-Man, feeling responsible, because he feels responsible for everything, is determined to stop Cletus and destroy the symbiot once and for all. He is joined by a few characters who were able to avoid possession: Captain America (Bucky), Johnny Storm, Shocker, Ant-Man, Iceman. They battle many symbiote enhanced villains, heroes and civilians.
Anti-Venom is also after Cletus and eventually forms an alliance with the heroes mentioned above. There is also a group of civilians who are surviving/waging a guerrilla war against the army of aliens. I think it would be a nice opportunity for Jonah Jamenson to shine heroically, and as mayor be the leader of this group, along with his son. Other people should include Amadeus Cho, Willie Lumpkin, "A man named Joe" and others.
Ive got some ideas about possessed characters, such as the Falcon. He could use symbiot infected birds as weapons, or a Carnage Doc Ock, in a tribute to the second Spider-Man game on the PSone.
Cletus has no other goal that to wreak total and complete havok, hence "Maximum Carnage". After and massive battle, Spider-Man is able to defeat Kasady, rendering him a vegetable in the process. With its main host gone, the Carnage symbiot leaves all the others being possessed. Sentry arrives after being sent by the President, and is taken over by the symbiot. Realizing that if he were to be taken over the damage would be horrific. So Sentry sacrifces his own life, unleashing the power of a million exploding suns in the process.
In the end, as always everyone rebuilds, things get back to normal. Norman Osborn is able to take credit again for saving the day, because even though everyone possessed by the symbiot knows Spidey defeated Kasady everyone thinks Osborns Spider-Man is the real deal. Spider-Man resigns from the Avengers, to form a more street-level, proactive team consisting of Spider-Man, Sandman, Bucky Cap, Carol Danvers, Daredevil, Prowler and Moon Knight.
Meanwhile, Reed Richards is analyzing the after effects of Sentry's death and discovers something astounding: the existance of hundreds of Earths, similar yet different, that are now somehow formally connected and their presence is now detectable.
Anyways, this is what I've got right now. I think the story has potential, and would love to get it flushed out.
