I really think it's a better idea than another sequel. I remember sort of hearing about the origin of Freddy Kreuger when I wasn't even able to see the movies and sort of imagining it and it was much scarier than when you start to see the movies and they're all campy and hollywood and ****.

They should shoot it on a low budget in Ohio with a film process that makes it seem like a serious exploitation movie from the 70's.

BTW if they need a younger actor than Englund to play a younger Freddy my pick is Brad Renfro. If he's clean and sober now.

Well they could do it, problem is unfortunately they already explored freddy's origin story in freddy's dead. However I think that if they go back to the darker less campy roots of the first film they could make something of quality out of it.

Any elm street movie would please me now. I really don't care as long as there is another one.

Only if Wes Craven has something to do with it.

I've been in support of this movie for years. If McNaughton does indeed end up directing it, it'll be amazing. But I wouldn't settle for anyone other than Englund. He was plenty convincing in the opening of Freddy vs. Jason. And Freddy shouldn't be a young guy.

That would be ideal.

But I don't think another Elm Street movie is necessary, anyway. It'll probably be pretty lame.

I agree...prequel is the best idea they've come up with so far

Whats with all these prequels coming out all of a sudden. But really go ahead a make the movie the nightmare movies are crap anyway. So I could care less.

I'd like to see a Nightmare on Elm Street prequel. I'd like to see Freddy's early years, cause all we have seen are flashbacks. I want to see more.

This isn't just a thing to cash in on the current remake craze. This has been in the works for over a decade. They actually partially did it in Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare. And I don't know how you could say they suck, unless you haven't seen the original or Wes Craven's New Nightmare, which were both excellent films.

We already know how Krueger came to be. There is no need for a prequel.

they've gone into his past in some of the other films aswell and the tv series. each covering defining moments.

There was an episode of the old "Freddy's Nightmares" TV series which I believe was actually about Freddy's trial and such.

the thing is now it's all played out. i think freddy verses jason was a fitting end to both series in a way. and i'm glad the films actually stayed away from child killing. i don't really want to see that acted out.

Yeah, I own that entire series on DVD. It's too bad it hasn't been officially release on DVD yet though. Turns up on eBay every so often (thats where I got my set).

I'd go see it.

We know so much already about Freddy, unless it's like watching him in his youth progress into crazy.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre has already gotten a reboot and a new series started (TCM: THE BEGINNING is out now). HALLOWEEN and Friday the 13th are getting the same treatments. I've heard rumors of the same... and the fact is, it will almost definitely happen. New Line Cinema is not gonna start a brand new series for TCM, FT3, and not do the exact same with the one that boosted New Line Cinema into a known company... ANOES. Hopefully Robert Shaye will be able to convince Wes Craven to revisit his creation and do something new and fresh to start a new series. Take Freddy back to his dark, disturbed, twisted, grotesque, and scary roots. Get rid of the cheesiness.

Bad idea. I liked Nightmare on Elm Street. It was a classic.

Inventing a new classic would be better. Sequels and Prequels have are over-saturating the market right now. It's also worth mentioning that contemporary horror films are atrocious. The horror is paying for it. The joke is that it was actually paid for.
