Hi everyone,

I'm conducting a little bit of consumer research on behalf of my dissertation for my final year at University.

It's mainly surrounding Marvel and its use of social media and digital technologies.
I think that utilising this community of comic fans is a great place to get some interesting insight in to what I am investigating and I would be super grateful if you would take a few minutes to air your opinions.

Any answers given will potentially be included in the study which will be used for educational purposes as well as being sent to Marvel themselves. Don't worry if you don't read comics, it's still useful to get your opinion on social media.

If you would provide the following information that'd be great, if you'd prefer to private message me the answers that'd also be fine.

Age -

Do you collect comics? -

Do you follow Marvel on any social media platforms? (name as appropriate) - e.g. YouTube, Facebook, Twitter

Do you purchase digital comics? -

Do you prefer digital comics over print? If so why, if not why? -

Have you heard of Augmented Reality? -

Have you downloaded or experienced the Marvel AR app? -

Do you like the idea of Marvel providing free extra content in their comics through AR? -

If you do use the AR app, how often do you use it? -

Do you think that Marvel is ahead of similar companies in regards to their social media presence?

Do you think other companies should follow Marvel and have a larger social media presence?

Do you think Marvel NOW!, with the inclusion of Marvel Infinite (exclusive digital comics) and Marvel AR is a good way of gaining a new audience?

If you have any questions or issues let me know, I hope this is all OK with the Mods and in the right section! Spread it around as well!

Thanks everyone!

Sure, I'll help.

1. 14

2. Not regularly although I do have a small collection of various big Marvel/DC comics.

3. Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Instagram

4. No.

6. No.

7. No.

10. Definitely.

11. Yes - probably everyone in my school are well aware of Marvel and what they do/who their characters are etc, however the same can't be said for DC and other film studios. Out of all the major entertainment corporations, including comics, film, TV etc, I'd say Marvel and Disney are the only two with huge awareness levels.

12. No. It's confusing for the casual fan, or just a bystander looking at front covers. One month they'll see Daredevil #31 and the next he's back to issue one with a whole new plot or whatever. The majority of people can't keep up with this stuff. Hell, I frequent social media, RSS feeds and the Hype so am instantly up to date with stuff but I can't even keep up with today's comics

Do you purchase digital comics? - yes

Do you prefer digital comics over print? If so why, if not why? - Less space but I buy the ones I really like like The Infinity Gauntlet.

Have you heard of Augmented Reality? - Yes

Have you downloaded or experienced the Marvel AR app? - Nope

Do you like the idea of Marvel providing free extra content in their comics through AR? - No opinion.

If you do use the AR app, how often do you use it? - Never

Do you think that Marvel is ahead of similar companies in regards to their social media presence? Don't have any info to compare it to, I get much of my info from here.

Do you think other companies should follow Marvel and have a larger social media presence? Not really, as it is Marvel is pushing everything for many movies all coming out in a row in addition to the regular comics. They need all the awareness they can get to keep it going strong.

Do you think Marvel NOW!, with the inclusion of Marvel Infinite (exclusive digital comics) and Marvel AR is a good way of gaining a new audience? Maybe but I don;t know too much about that.

Spoilered for size. May not make total sense but I've only got about six hours sleep in the last two days.

Kind of, more fan pages than official pages on Facebook

No preference really. Pros of digital comics is easier to keep track of, less chance of it getting lost or destroyed. Cons are sometimes it doesn't download properly, some may be limited timeframe comics(they expire), sometimes scrolling becomes annoying to read full comic instead of simple turning of a page.

They might be, I follow few other similar companies as well and Marvel seems to be more up to date and more inclusive than others.

I think other companies should find what works best for them instead of trying to carbon copy Marvel's way of doing things.

Do you think Marvel NOW!, with the inclusion of Marvel Infinite (exclusive digital comics) and Marvel AR is a good way of gaining a new audience?
Possibly; in the highly technological age, you gotta take part in it somewhat if you want to be recognized.

I don't pay much attention to other companies but I'm sure they all promote their new items on social media.

I don't know. Maybe some people could be interested. I don't see how it would hurt Marvel to try.
