IMHO, the problems with Lois's character shouldn't be attributed to Bosworth. Her character was written very poorly at times. Kate did fine with what she was given. As for her being too young for the role... hell, that's just Hollywood. She probably play a teenager in a movie after she hits 30.

I agree Kate did a good job it was just the lois that was written that was horrible. That bwasn't the lois we grew to love it was new lois that byan added that messed up. I have no problems with the cast it is just the writing and the direction the movie that has issues.

well guys you know im a huge fan of the movie but i think another choice needs to be made... Kate didnt sell to me on her part....

I thought Bosworth was fine in the movie (including the rest of the cast). Had she been given a larger scope and a stronger story to work with, I'm sure many of the anti-Bosworth folks would feel different.

One of the reasons I see over and over people posting as to why they didn't like Bosworth, was because they couldn't see her as *in Jimmy Olsen's voice* "A maammeeee (mommy)" because she looked too young. Had she not been a mommy in the film, I'm sure many of the complaints would not exist as she and Routh looked good together on screen and she would be more focused on the *Superman* storyline instead of the "Lois, Richard & munchkin" storyline which detracted from her focus on Supes.

I am going to follow Matt & pretend to be suit. Kate Bosworth is the LEAST of this Movies problems & the WB should focus on whats important. More then enuogh had no problem with Kate Bosworth & yes this includes people outside forums. Kate Bosworth is something I am sure the WB suits does not need to worry about

I doubt anybody is going to be replaced, especially Bosworth.

I think they could have cast a much more appropriate actress as Lois, but I can live with Bosworth. "Alexander" tried to convince me that Angelina Jolie was Colin Ferrell's mother. After that, I can buy any role.

I prefer Lois as the fast talking , sarcastic yet yet humorous journalist of STAS , L&C and SV. Her character needs to have that feisty spark to her . I think it's something extra that the actress brings to the table . I've seen it in actresses like Julia Roberts , Ashley Judd , Reese Witherspoon , and Teri Hatcher. I'm not suggesting they should play Lois , but that extra personality is what's needed in whatever actress they cast.

Had the story Bosworth was working with demanded such a personification, I'm sure she would've delivered. Honestly, it was the story that held back the feisty, sarcastic Lois not the actress.

I could easily see WB forcing Rachel McAdams or Kate Beckinsale into the cast as they are currently the 'it girls' of Hollywood.

Beckinsale is too old for Routh. McAdams would just be far too different from the first film. If anything just want someone that has some vague resemblence to Kate's Lois but has a more mature presense and better acting skill.

I disagree though. The majority of the complaints about Lois pertain to the actress playing her; 'too young to make it believeable' etc...

Under another actress' interpretation, the character they wrote may have worked better.

She should be, worst part about the movie was Bosworth.:o

First of all, I love Superman Returns. I thought it was great. However, its obvious that alot werent too pleased with Kate Bosworth's performance as Lois.

Should Kate Bosworth be replaced for future films?

If so, I'm offering the suggestion of replacing her with House's Jennifer Morrison. She bears a strong resemblence to Kate's Lois and her mannerisms and voice are similar enough to make a smooth transition. She, however, is also a great actress on the show and has a slightly more mature look and presense compared to Kate. She could possibly make it more believeable without totally changing Kate's Lois completely.

she didnt sell me... everyone else did but her

Hopefully we can see how Bosworth can redeem herself in the sequel, if there is one.

Funny to see this now after a so long time we've seen the first pics of Kate as Lois. The first thing I thought was "cool they casted Jennifer Morrison" until I saw the credit. Unbelieveable how much they look alike. They could be twins.
Just too bad it wasn't her. Even though I hate the whole idea of the movie Jenny looks older and fits the mother role much better. Kate wasn't really what I expected from Lois also. More like what Frodo posted.

Should they recast? Yes. Will they recast? No. She's now Lois Lane and will play the role until the franchise goes down again. :(

PS: What I also don't understand is - if she already wears a wig, why does she still have a forehead like Mount Rushmore??? Couldn't they lower the hair to an more appropriate place? That .... thing ... is really distracting. :batman:

I believe Bosworth did okay with what she was given, but the sassy, sexy Louis of the comics was sorely missing. Their relationshp really COULD hold the same appeal to the women domographic as Spiderman did, and the early marketing certainly tried to play it up.

At least Batman has the excuse of inevitable lonliness, for SUperman thee relationship between him and Louis is a big deal and it should have been much more appealing (especially between her and Clarke) than it was in SR.

There are ways to get her out of it if need be. It wouldnt be the first time.
I just don't see it happening. Unless Kate bails herself. I read that she wanted to go to college or something.

That doesn't mean they will use her. The WB can release he from the contract at any point. The contract obligates Kate to do the movie, it doesn't obligate WB to use Kate.

I personally think that IF the sequel gets made the brass behind WB is going to cut Kate. They need a bigger name star to help bring in bigger box office. I could easily see WB forcing Rachel McAdams or Kate Beckinsale into the cast as they are currently the 'it girls' of Hollywood.
This is not some no-name actress like Katie Stuart from X2. (She had a deal for to appear in X-Men 3 but Fox just decided not utilize their option and recast the role)

And why would the suits at WB be that stupid to bring in those girls? From what i've heard the reason Kate got the role is because she had great chemistry with Routh. They tested other women like Keri Russell but they just didn't have the same thing tha Kate had with Brandon.Inspite of how good they were.

Russell didn't seem pleased about loosing the role in a interview.

BTW House is produced by Bryan Singer so i wouldn't be surprised if he considerd Jennifer Morrison IF (god forbid) Bosworth was not going to return in Superman 2.

Yup. I was wondering why she was friends with Bryan and then I learned he produces on that show.

I guess that explains Bryan originally wanting Hugh Laurie for Perry White.

is there gunna be a next time? is Singer continuing with sequels?

But I'm totally for this Jennifer chick taking over Bosworth's role

She's not good-looking enough. Louis should be seriously sexy.

Keri Russell almost got the gig... i bet she didnt get it cuz Routh was laughing at her Google EYE!!!! HAHAHAHAHA
