A video game ICON has been MURDERED...

Thanks for your honesty... but dude, 4 days - 16,000 views. Check the reviews... I'm getting A++++ all up and down the boards. I'm getting emails from grown men telling me they were misty eyed (ridiculous, I realize that), emails saying "FINALLY", emails saying "I forgot how good they used to be", and emails saying "I WANT MORE NOW!". I understand the production quality wasn't up to par, and I explained the SONIC thing if you watch it... "bury past differences". Originally there was a line that sooner or later everybody had to choose a side but that was getting to anal, and it was meant to be fun, not a highly detailed, over analysis of games. Thanks for you honesty - I mean that, but I totally disagree with anybdoy who says "it sucks".
You done with your shameless self promotion?

I went to see Underworld 2 today. While I sat watching it, over 12,000 people watched my short film. Trust me, I don't need to promote it anymore. It's the truth, not bragging, and not promotion. I'm discussing it because I just spent 4-5 weeks at a time working down in Texas (i live in Ohio) in order to be able to afford making this thing and a 16mm short film I have in the works. it's a huge part of how I spent the last few months... that's why I'm defending it. That, and I can honestly say I know it's good. I've made bad stuff before, and this isn't bad. If you don't wanna hear or read about it anymore, stop clicking on the thread.

Will there be any more short films about the Nintendo Old School Revolution. It felt more like a trailer for something to come.

I wish I could make a movie about the supremacy of games with plots more interesting than "Save the Princess" that Mario and Zelda have. Games like Dues Ex or a game like Shenmue.

Thats the damn point. Nintendo's games are meant to be fun, playing a game, not playing a damn movie. I can understand what you mean about Super Mario but the Legend of Zelda is starting to form a very deep plotline and continuity. Donkey Kong and Metroid already have continuity.

And BTW Shenmue sucks

My only quip about the movie is that instead of having Megaman as the traitor (who was always a 3rd party character instead of Nintendo), have Rare as the traitor.

But Megaman is the only Sony reference in the whole darn thing. If he took that out, it would just obviously be a movie about a Nintendo fanboy who was mad at Halo, because I don't think there were any other Xbox characters there, either.

Earthworm Jim being included was great.

HALO is a GREAT game. So is MORROWIND. This thing is being way too over analyzed and the use of the word "fanboy" is as about insulting and silly as you can get. FanBOY? I'm a 24 year old man with a full time job who's a fan of games (not just Nintendo), movies, books, etc. Why even bother hurling that term at somebody like it's an insult? I made this thing because I do feel Nintendo is by far the superior product but that it's overlooked because everybody today feels they are too mature... and as a result, today's popular games are a dime-a-dozen. Anti-hero with mysterious origins, raspy voice, gun, etc. I sold GTA and Vice City the first day I bought them, but I kept Paper Mario forever. It's a shame everybody thinks something has to be "gritty" to be good. Just go buy Eternal Darkness, RE4, Animal Crossing, Paper Mario, Windwaker, Fire Emblem, Gladius, the Resident Evil 1 REMAKE (which is amazing), and Mario Kart Double Dash. Now I must be a "fanboy" for saying this, but nothing on the other systems besides for Halo, Morrowind, Shenmue, and from what I hear, San Andreas, come close to those games in fun factor. Keep in mind, I have an XBOX, PS, and a GAMECUBE and I'd had tons of games for each.

Oh, and to answer the HUGE amount of emails I've gotten asking if there will be a sequel or a feature, no there won't. Some other people have already informed me and hinted at doing stuff similar, and I'm sure some angry XBOX fan is already making a rebuttal or something, but I'm back to live action stuff now... it was fun but I've said my piece with it. Thanks for checking it out folks

The Ryu from Ninja Gaiden, Abe from Oddworld, and Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell whom are considered Xbox characters. As for Sony characters the movie showed Tommy Vericetti from Vice City, Lara Croft from Tomb Raider, Dante from Devil May Cry, Crash Bandicoot, Ratchet and Clank. And Megaman still appears on Nintendo peripherals while Rare games are now Microsoft exclusive. Rare would have been better used.

Brilliant work, it made me very nostalgic. I'm looking across the room at my SNES and it's filling me with a certain pride. *pours a 40 on the curb* This one's for you, Mario.

Exactly. In the FANART section. If you're showing off your own work we have a forum for that.

Their have been plenty of artists other than he who have posted game-related fan art in this forum. If I remember correctly, artist71 has even done so recently.

If you see something cool or funny and want to show it around, sure, but if you're trying to push your own works on us, regardless of quality, we have a place for that.

If it's good, then people think "wow, this is great" and share it with others.

I post funny YTMNDs all the time but not the ones I make. If I did, that would be totally lame of me.

He didn't "push" anything. He posted a link to his work along with a review. If you think that that's being pushy, you obviously don't like movie trailers either.

dude this was awesome i loved it its a shame theres gonna be no sequel though

It's a damn shame you're a ****ty filmmaker and your crappy 16mm short will be terrible by comparison to your 15 minutes of fame that you shamelessly self promoted like a 12 year old.

Dude, the stuff before the cartoon got way better reviews than the toon itself did. I said it before... there's no point in "shameless promotion"... it's had over 170,000 hits in a week. No forum talk is gonna do that. Before the cartoon, Troma had just requested a copy of our last short film to consider for distribution and the executive producer of LORD OF THE RINGS requested he be the first to read our feature script when it's done. I don't need to self promote... quality stuff will carry itself.

Anyways... the one question I didn't get to answer was the "Where's the music from?" question I've gotten too many emails about to respond to. Here's the answer...

1) The Chronicles of Narnia - Harry Gregson-Williams: "Here Comes the King"
2) The Chronicles of Narnia - HGW - "The Battle"
3) Blackhawk Down - Hans Zimmer - "Leave no Man Behind"
thanks for enjoying it - Larry

Troma? Big name there. They'll distribute ANYTHING that constitutes a "film". As long as they can buy it so cheap that ANY sales will constitute a profit. Manos the Hands of Fate got distrubution. It's not an indication of quality.

And I'll just take your word on the Exec. Producer for LotR. Since there were like 8. And I'm guessing it wasn't Peter Jackson or the Weinsteins, aka the real ones, or you'd have mentioned them by name. Executive Producer is the credit they give you to shut you up in favor of actual credit. It certainly indicates some standing in the industry, but not a hell of a lot else.

Also, it gets hundreds of thousands of hits because your shameless self promotion got others to do it for you. That's how it works. If you leave it to be seen on it's own merits it will do just the same, but it will be honest.

Mark Ordesky is his name. You might be too angry a person to be allowed on these forums. Has Superhero Hype always been like this? It takes balls to even post a topic these days.

Yep, pretty much. Especially the Gaming forums. Mods won't even touch it because they're too afraid of it, except for Drakon because he has balls.

all this fight and I bet larryfilmmaker didnt even make this thing.

the idea was cool, the themes were good (though I don't agree 100%), but if we're talking videogame-based shorts, I prefered Titanium Rhapsody and the Rise of the Mushroom Kingdom saga a lot more...

I've never heard of the T.Rhapsody but the Mushroom Kingdom has come up a few times... I'd love to check it out. Got a link? thanks
