Spike's Video Game Awards 2013

Seriously they make us suffer a half hour concert. Show a little bit of footage. Then end it with another concert. This is not on TV so ratings do not matter. **** the ****ing concert. Next year I will just watch the game videos on Youtube at this point

So the VGX managed to hit even lower depths I see.

Ya stick a fork in it, it's done. I had no idea it could get worse. No way will any big companies want to "reveal" themselves on this anymore. That was a terrible terrible show. The worst they have ever done and that's saying a lot.

God damn, that was horrible. I thought last year was an improvement & that the VGAs were trying to be respectable, that was thrown all out the window this year.

Where's the video game Academy Award-equivalent? Gaming will never be respected as an art if this crap is the biggest award show for it.

VGX was fantastic. Watching Joel not give a **** and be completely dismissive of Dorito Pope and his dumb show was awesome.

That is true. I do laugh at how some are "mad" at Joel for what he did. But first, that is Joel's style. Always has been. And ya, it was great to slam Geoff.

The only good things that came out of it were some of the games showed, like Thief, and Tim's new game, the GOT game, and most importantly The Witcher 3.

You need to check out No Man's Sky if you haven't. You would be into it I think. It looks great.

Ya that's another one that looks really interesting/good.

I just checked it out, totally missed it as I came in near the end.

I hadn't heard of No Man's Sky so when the trailer first started I thought "A scuba sim? That's a weird direction to go in after Joe Danger." And by the time that trailer ended, my jaw was on the floor. I can't wait.

Well, GTA V won Game of The Year so I guess that's the only positive in that nightmare of an awards show.

I'll list my choices anyway

Why was he being so rude anyhow? I mean why show up if he was just going to make himself look bad ?

Well that is his type of humor. I don't get why some are shocked by this. He is usually very antagonistic in his type of humor. That and anything to rip Geoff apart gets thumbs up by me. But I do agree it was still a mess. And what I have hated about the media in general for the past 10 years they have made a mockery of us, and almost tease the people that are watching the show in a negative way.

I do miss how back in the day journalism in the gaming world was actually taken seriously.

I've never seen either person before so I don't know his "act"
Just looks like a jerk from an outside perspective.

Very skeptical of No Man's Sky. It's pretty damn ambitious, but these studios always talk a big talk...this game could be yeeeears down the road, anyway.

For me, this whole thing looked like it was meant to be a more intimate event, sort of like how IGN and Spike has been doing pre and post E3 shows. So I didn't really have a problem with the feel of the show, but it definitely had an awkward feel to it because of that and because it looked like they had a schedule to keep, but didn't really look like they had anything organized at all, which is what happens when you broadcast something live with no editing.

I knew it was going to be bad as soon as I tuned in and saw the Tomb Raider interview where they had Camilla Luddington there for no reason other than to look pretty and answer like one question and then do a promo that she clearly wasn't prepared for. Everything looked like it was just rushed and unorganized, and the lack of an audience really didn't help either.

Nobody knows how to cover video games anymore. X-Play honestly did it the best with Sessler and Webb together.

Joel is actually pretty awesome, Community is where I love him from the most. The real jerk is Geoff, not Joel. Geoff is just one of the worst, has been since he joined Gamespot all those years ago. Simply put he is an egotistical dick wad.
