Young Josh Flitter has signed to star in the third “Ace Ventura” movie, with David Mickey Evans (“The Sandlot”, “The Final Season&#8221 directing.

The Jim Carrey-less sequel sees the son (“Nancy Drew” star Flitter) of the oddball detective step into his father's shoes to take over the family business. Animals, Impersonations and Captain Stubing appearances ensue.

“Well, basically my kids run my career”, Evans exclusively told Moviehole. “After the Final Season got picked up by Sony/Yari for theatrical release, I had a bunch of offers and scripts on my desk. I asked my 9, 11, and 15 year olds what they wanted me to do. And they said, “Dad, you’re doing Ace Ventura 3!. I don’t know if the fact that the film shoots in Orlando (Disney World, Universal Orlando, etc etc&#8230 had anything to with their marching orders, but I suspect it did. Nonetheless, the challenge of trying to meet the expectation of a sequel to one of the funniest movies in the last 30 years appealed to me. Done deal. Cut. Print. Moving on! Done deal.

Eh..they are unfortunately not only doing it with Carey's movies now but other comedians as well, Murphy's Dr. Doolittle saw Dr. Doolittle 3 about the daughter and Cuba Gooding Jr is filling in for him in a sequel to Daddy Day Care.

How easy is that to assemble, but no Hollywood comes up with Ace Ventura Jr., a prequel to Dumb and Dumber, and use the titles to try to attract movie goers with The Mask 2 and Evan Almighty.

They've already got him lined up for another Liar, Liar type movie called Yes Man, where he plays a guy that usually says no to anything everyone asks, and one day decides to say yes to anything, no matter how stupid.
