But the thread isn't for I THINK THEY LOOKED THE SAME or THEY ACTED THE SAME WAY or THESE ROLES WERE VERY VERY SIMILAR....it's for actors that have played the same NAMED character in at least 3 movies of THE OBVIOUSLY AND ACKNOWLEDGED SAME FRANCHISE in at least 2 DIFFERENT FRANCHISES.

George Kennedy. 4 Airport movies and the 3 Naked Gun movies.

Eddie Murphy in Beverly Hills Cop 1 -3 and The Shrek movies if you count animation. Also needs another 48 Hours movie or Nutty Professor and he'll have 3 characters.

Arnold Schwarzenegger. but only if you count the fact that his character in Red Sonya is supposed to be Conan but his name had to be changed to Kalidor for some kind of legal reasons. played Conan and The Terminator.

Michael Caine. Played spy Harry Palmer in at 5 films and will soon play Alfred Pennyworth for a third time.

Jackie Chan. The Rush Hour Films and the first four Police Story films)

Mike Myers. Austin Powers and Shrek. Another Waynes World and he has 3

Michael York. 3 Austin Powers movies and 3 Three/Four Musketeer movies.




Theres's lots of people that are one movie short.

If Bill and Ted III ever gets made you can add Keanu Reeves to the list.

If Christopher Lambert ever does Fortress 3 you can add him to the list.

If Bruce Willis does another Whole Nine Yards sequel you can add him to the list.

If John Travolta ever plays Tony Manero or Chili Palmer again you can add him to the list.

Vin Diesel (Needs another Riddick movie).

Antonio Bandaras (needs another Zorro or El Mariachi movie but he's in if you count Puss N Boots).


These guys are also close but these movies are even less likely to happen.

Sean Connery (Needs another Highlander but theres no way thats going to happen), Chevy Chase (Needs another Fletch), Chuck Norris (Needs another Delta Force), Gene Hackman (needs another French Connection).

Actors that have played the same character in at least 3 movies - AND - have done that in at least 2 different franchises - if by chance they have done this in more than 2 different franchises, then they have managed to do something very few actors have done.

EXAMPLE - Harrison Ford played Han Solo in 3 different STAR WARS movies AND he played Dr. Jones in 3 different INDIANA JONES movies.

Harrison played Jack Ryan in 2 movies, but the thread asks for the actor to play the same role in at least 3 movies...so they don't count in this thread.

The angel Gabrial in the 3 PROPHECY movies and Jacob Witting in 2 made for TV movies (SKYLARK and SARAH, PLAIN AND TALL)...so he's close but not there yet.

If tv movies count I think Christopher Reeve makes this list. 4 Superman movies and the 3 Black Fox tv movies.

Although he played a man named Van Helsing in several movies...it wasn't always the same one....he played relatives of the original in a couple of movies.

Cushing was arguably the same Van Helsing as the one from Horror of Dracula and Brides of Dracula in Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires. Cushing also played a Victorian aged Van Helsing in the opening prologue of Dracula A.D. 1972.

Technically, Cushing also appears in Dracula, Prince of Darkness in the prologue, although that's just recycling the climax of Horror of Dracula.

I know considering how much money the movie made a sequel is an inevitability, but I can't help but think that sequels would go the route of the Matrix and just water down and make the original less cool. To be honest I was kind of blah about the movie to begin with.
