The Force Awakens Adam Driver as Kylo Ren

When Kylo started pounding on his wound before the lightsaber fight, please tell me I wasn't the only one who thought of this:

Buahahaha YES! That was my immediate thought, too. My second thought was "Jesus, this dude is insane! I love it!'

He seemed really conflicted in 'that' scene, Driver absolutely nailed the raw emotion. Hit me right in the feels.

Adam Driver blew me away. I actually felt for the guy. A real 3D villain.

Depends on the type of influence Snoke has on him. Clearly Snoke's manipulating Kylo, but maybe there's another level of control there that can set the stage for redemption.

i thought Kylo was an amazing villain . He wasn't just Vader 2.0 , he made the character something different. He was cold , unforgiving, intimidating , and reckless. While Vader was cold and calculating , Kylo was angry and reckless . You didn't know how he would react . He may cut you down just as quickly as he may take you prisoner . He was dangerous because you didn't know what would happen . He not only wanted to be Vader he wanted to surpass him. When he pulled off the mask (knowing it was Adam driver playing him) I was still somewhat shocked . He was young. You could see that he was almost fighting within himself . He wanted to be his grandfather but he hadn't turned completely. Great Villian

Kylo Ren/Ben Solo does make a valid point though. What life is Leia and Han expecting him to live if he returned to them?

He's a criminal and murderer and would surely have to answer for his war crimes against the Republic.

He chose this path and there really is no going back. It'd be no different than if Vader survived ROTJ.

IF they go the "redemption" route, which I would hope would be more gradual than Vader's was, they could always end it with him going off on his own for awhile. That way, no one is quite sure what he's thinking and what his future intentions are.

Driver as Kylo was okay IMO.

Lots of room for improvement. He seemed just like emo type who is wants to be as bad as Vader it hurts.

I felt the whole reveal is him as Han and Leia's son was rushed big time. Not enough emotional weight to it.

Could carried that over to the middle of the 2nd film and it would felt way more meaningful.

"Great" villain?? Nah.....at least not yet IMO.

I like his character but him losing to Rey was the worst ever for a Dark Side user.

Sidious obliterated 4 Jedi masters and not even Yoda could defeat him

Maul was taking on 2 Jedi Knights at same time

Tyranus as well can take on 2 Jedi at same time

Vader is a bad arse as well

Kylo Ren lost to an untrained girl

Remember when Han setup how powerful Chewie's gun was in the film, like 3 or 4 times? Remember when Chewie shot Kylo in the gut with said powerful chewie gun?

Don't forget that he was likely much more injured than we are giving him credit for.

I'm sorry but this post

Also your point about Sidious in ROTS taking out those Jedi. What a horrible scene, they just ****ing stood there while he cut them down. Horrible stuff.

In fairness I think that had a lot to do with how limited McDiarmid's mobility was.

^^^^
Yup! I feel the same....mind you her being a girl has nothing to do with it. Being completely untrained though....is an issue.

That's a fair point, but I feel like they still could've done a bit more with that scene. Those Jedi could've put up a bit more of a fight, make it more believable.

That brings me to another issue.

This was the first time after all these years of Han and Chewie being roll dogs that Han shot Chewies crossbow gun??
Come on!

That's kind of a stupid issue honestly. That seems like something you're just looking at to nitpick.

Yes, because you live long and prosper having shootouts every other day.

Not really stupid at all.

Think about it. They have been best buddies all these years and this is the first time Han shot Chewies gun? Highly unlikely....but hey whatever...

I would have had him take out a couple of them with the Force before even using a Lightsaber.

People who use guns are very specific about using their own and not having anyone else touch theirs.
