The Force Awakens Adam Driver as Kylo Ren

I like his character but him losing to Rey was the worst ever for a Dark Side user.

Sidious obliterated 4 Jedi masters and not even Yoda could defeat him

Maul was taking on 2 Jedi Knights at same time

Tyranus as well can take on 2 Jedi at same time

Vader is a bad arse as well

Kylo Ren lost to an untrained girl

Those guys were all veterans. Ren is still a student and also began the duel with a really bad injury.

Ok fair enough, he was injured by Chewie.

I just saw it once so correct me, but when Han said, Luke went into hiding after one of his student killed the rest of his students, Han never really said it was Kylo Ren. But we all assumed it was.

But what if it was Snoke, who was Luke's student that did the killing and seduced Kylo Ren??

People who use guns are very specific about using their own and not having anyone else touch theirs.

Oh okay. I see.....but wouldn't have Han at least shot Chewies weapon once to just give it a shot and see how it is after 30 plus years of being roll dog buddies?

Ren was also:
Emotionally messed up after killing daddy, and he underestimated what Rey was capable of.

I love that Kylo is like this incredibly gifted Force user but really rough and inexperienced in the duel. It makes sense, probably didn't finish his training properly and it's not like he has many Jedis to fight.

Pretty sure the clip of Kylo and the Knights of Ren with dead bodies around them confirmed it was physically them.

Unless you want to go the Kenobi "point of view" in which Snoke killed the students since he seduced Kylo and the Knights.

Makes me wonder if Rey was experiencing what her mom felt in the vision.

I liked adam driver. The emotional angst and tantrums fit him way better than they did Anakin. That, and he's a better actor than Christensen.

Not to mention the fact that the didnt kill him off with the same chump death that Maul got in Ep 1 and the character is far more interesting than Dooku and far more relevant than Grievous.

So, all around can't wait to see more.

I see what they were trying to do with the character, but sorry , he just didn't impress me much. Adam Driver did a good acting job, its just the character as a villian and Han's son, left little to be desired the way he was written in this film. My hope is in the next one he'll be closer to Darth Maul, and be much closer to be a villain to be reckoned with.

I like that we are going to see the dark side and the light side grow in power.

Both are rookies and we are going to see a violent crescendo as the story progresses.

Closer to Maul in what respect? Apart from the lightsaber the guy was totally wasted.

We are seeing someone who is determined to follow in his grandfathers footsteps but can't because he just isn't powerful enough. Thought that was pretty clear.

I'm trying to say is that Snoke was the student of Luke and seduced Kylo Ren at the same time.

It is far fetch if Snoke is rumored to be ancient.

As I said in the post , I saw what they were trying to do with the character, and I wasn't impressed story and character wise, so you've pretty much answered your own question on why I wasn't.

So was Apollo excited that
"Jacen Solo" wound up with "Ben Skywalker"'s name?

I've been away from this section for a while.

Why would you want Kylo to be more like Maul?! He said two lines and died in the fist movie.

Give me what we saw in TFA any day over that waste.

When Kylo first took off his helmet/mask....I heard a teenager say out loud....is that girl?

Kinda funny....:woot:

His tantrums just made him look like an overgrown brat....

Kylo Ren was easily my new favourite character of the film. A great layered character with emotional conflicts that are just riveting to sink your teeth into. Well done Adam Driver.

He was a better Anakin Skywalker post-Dark Side transition than Hayden Christensen.

I thought Maul was better with less time . Sorry , I just did . If you disagree , you disagree .

Darth Maul was definitely more intimidating. But I can be patient with Kylo to grow as a villain in the sequel trilogy. I thought the movie did a serviceable job in making me buy into the fact that he's still a work in progress.

To fair, I think that's what they were going for. He wants to be as Bad a** as Vader but he really hasn't lived up to that standard, and is still struggling with the light side of the force. He's a Vader wannabe when he really doesn't have the gravitas or stature to be Vader.

I just wasn't as impressed with going that route. I know there are people who were, but I wasn't.

Which was the point I was making in reference to him being more like Maul in the next film.
