This has probably been asked a bunch of times already but...for anyone who's seen it just answer me this: Does the film stand on its own? I recall someone on these boards saying a couple of weeks ago that this film is only "Part One" of a two part story or something.

i havent seen it, but from what i have heard, this is a standalone movie, leading into the avengers 2

I'm wondering if Bucky was having a variation of the super soldier serum tested on him whilst he was imprisoned during the First Avenger movie which was how he survived that fall?

I have read most spoilers posted from the users who have seen the film, but I am wondering a thing that wasen't made clear:

It is stated that Black Widow is alone with Alexander Pierce during the end-fight. What I am unsure of is if they are fighting each other, and if yes, is Pierce able to hold his own against Black Widow? I have not imagined him as a good hand to hand-fighter, but perhaps he is able, given that he probably rose throught the ranks of SHIELD. So, the question is: Do they have a lengthy fight, and is Pierce a capable fighter to hold his own against Black Widow?

They don't fight, Black Widow takes out all the SHIELDRA agents in the room in addition to Pierce, but he gains the upper hand again through a piece of technology that I won't spoil at this time.

Finally! I've been waiting to hear what Empire thinks of the film and they give it 4/5. They thought some of the twists were easy to predict and the final Helicarrier battle was a little formulaic, but other than that, they thought it was great.

I didn't see it, but the refrigerator shot is brief. I wasn't really looking for it, so it might be there. I'll look for it on subsequent showings.

2. Is it true that Doctor Strange gets referenced?
3. What's the role of Senator Stern from IM2?
4. Is "Agent 13" ever outed as being Sharon Carter?
5. What's Peggy Carter's role in the whole thing?

1. Yes
2. Yes, in a scene with Sitwell on the rooftops
3. Not much, just a cameo. He is seen with Sitwell when it is revealed to be a part of Hydra. He is also arrested at the very end.
4. She is outed by Black Widow at the end as Sharon, but the name Carter is never said.
5. Steve visits her early on in the film to talk to her.

I personally feel it stands on its own. It hints at continuing the story at the end in some capacity.
