 I'm pretty sure it takes place after IM3 if they knew about Extremis.

I'm still trying to figure out where this fits into the MCU timeline, too. On the one hand, Coulson seemed to be well aware of Extremis, but on the other hand, it sounded like the walking time-bomb side effect wasn't common knowledge in the TV show yet. Don't know if Stark would've warned SHIELD and all of Extremis' customers about the "side effects" at the end of IM3, but you'd think it'd be at least highly irresponsible of him *not* to.

I acknowledge that I might need to rewatch it (oh the horror :oldrazz:) but I got the impression that they did know about Extremis' side effects because I thought that, once it was realized it *was* Extremis Coulson mentioned how unstable it was (again, I might need to rewatch though, I was so giddy last night when it aired that I could've easily missed some details in the dialogue).

I think it takes place close to (or maybe overlaps slightly) with IM3 (but that's just my opinion.)

I think one of the main issues the show will have to deal with is the connection with the movies, and vice versa. There's a big amount of mythology that may get too difficult to follow for the casual viewer.

People who watches the movies, don't necessarily watch TV. I think is good that they introduce stuff from the movies into the series, but it'll be harder to introduce stuff from the series into the movies. They should work on their own. Iron Man Three managed to be standalone, but I don't want an intricated mythology between the series and the MCU.

Actually, I thought one of the things that made the pilot work is that if all references of the MCU were taken out (except the whole Hill/Coulson thing), it still worked.

About the timeline, if The Winter Soldier takes place during Iron Man 3, I will be wondering how they explain how S.H.I.E.L.D. or the military in general not doing a damn thing in Iron Man 3.

I don't think it's so much that SHIELD didn't do anything, it's that we were following Tony and Rhody and they got to AIM and the President first.

I don't think the show is shaping up to be an award-winner or anything, but it was entertaining. Coulson was great (of course), but I was surprised by how much I liked Ward. That actor handled it well. Skye was....ehhhhh. Maybe a little TOO snarky. Melinda May seems like a more interesting female lead.

It was definitely good enough to make me want to watch more.

doesnt look like people are very excited after the first episode... I liked it. I like the references to the movies. Liked most of the actors. The CGI looks great and the CG plane in the tv spot for the next episode looked unbelievable.

Before the first episode many said:
this show is gonna blow everthing away. Its gonna be awesomeeeeee

after the episode:
ehm...i liked it :) ...

let`s see what people will say after 8-12 episodes...

i expect to see atleast a short cameo by the avangers in the season final :)

Just in case you all didn't know, it's supposed to air again Thursday night same time

Yeah, I mean... is just starting. Just one episode. On TV. They can't throw an entire made-for-tv movie on their first episode.

I'm actually surprised they announced they said,
"stayed tuned until the very end of each episode, You won't want to miss it"
Thought for SURE Marvel was only going to do the post credit thing in movies only, seeing as the tv show is every week.

Speaking of Which, does ANYONE have images/Video of Lola flying away? pm them to me if you do. Don't want to chance bootleg probs yet.

Well, I mean, TV shows due "scenes from the next episode" after the credits all the time. Also post credit extra scenes are pretty common on TV as well.

Unless you're Breaking Bad and they make you watch Low Winter Sun to see it. :cmad:

MAN I really Hope they make a Lola model or toy car lol

Don't judge mass appeal by the usual fanboy *****ing on these boards. A more objective reading of this is that it's a critical success according to Metacritic consensus, and as far as ratings go, it had the highest debut of *any* new fall show, and the highest premiere of a new drama in the past 4 years.

Premier ratings aren't a good indicator. Let's watch how it fares in the next few weeks to really gauge the public's reaction.

Shows that get 11.5 million viewers in the pilot usually stay around 8 or 9 during the season (or lower, like Revolution). You have some exceptions. The Big Bang Theory became a juggernaut, and Person of Interest managed to maintain solid ratings in both seasons.
It all depends on the quality of the product. If it gets or stays good, people will watch it.

There was no indication that SHIELD didn't know about Extremis in IM3. Extremis was in circulation well before IM3.

My wife and I loved the first episode...a great start to the series.

just because Extremis is the plot of IM3 and Tony just finding out about it, doesn't mean it was just created (which we know it was not since it's been in the works since 1999) nor does it mean it hasn't been on SHIELD's radar... If im not mistaken, Coulson even says it's in it's experimental stage... so this show starts right between Avengers and IM3
