  • No brainer - the only intelligent choice is AI Jarvis

  • The butler did it for me - Edwin Jarvis

Now that you've seen both AI Jarvis (voiced by Paul Bettany) and Edwin Jarvis (played by James D'Arcy) in the MCU, which character do you prefer? Whom do you find more interesting and engaging to watch?

For me, even after 3 episodes of Agent Carter, I think I would easily say Edwin Jarvis. He's great to watch and brings many moments of amusement.

Edwin Jarvis is awesome..lol. james D'Arcy is crushing it. His attempted american accent in the last episode had me rolling

To watch would be Edwin Jarvis by default.

As characters within the context of their respective media, I would have to go with AI Jarvis.

I'm a little biased though, have been a fan of Bettany for some time (and yes, I even liked A Knight's Tale).

AI Jarvis hands down, Paul Bettany is Jarvis because when you think Jarvis you automatically think of him

^This exactly. While D'Arcy is a really great actor who always bring something different to a project and is literally visible in the MCU, Bettany is just one of the coolest actors out there. He might win by swoon points alone.

The AI Jarvis has been cool, but I would've preferred they just included a flashback of stark as a kid with paul bettany as the human jarvis before he croaked. this is the reason why I was not fond of him being cast as the vision.

Definitely D'Arcy's Jarvis. He's an absolute delight to watch on screen, and it's such a nuanced performance

After only three episodes of Agent Carter, I choose Edwin Jarvis. I've never really cared much for the A.I. Jarvis, but Edwin is an absolute delight and I cannot get enough of the character.

Easily human Jarvis. D'Arcy isn't just fantastic in the role and has wonderful chemistry with Peggy, but he manages to walk the perfect line between comic relief and being an in-depth fully realized character. Aside from the fact it's a period piece, I think they managed to make him stand out to the point even the GA wouldn't think of "Alfred".

However, I still think AI Jarvis was a much better idea to start with. It adds so much more depth to the human Jarvis IMO. I can totally see how Tony cared so much for this guy as a kid he based a whole AI on him.

Probably the human because he's a fully fleshed out character, but I'll wait until after Agent Carter and Age of Ultron are both done to reach a final conclusion.

So far Human Jarvis because he's a more developed character, but we'll see how the whole Vision thing plays out in Age of Ultron.

AI. D'Arcy is a delight to watch but I agree with Favreau that having JARVIS as Tony's butler/confidante would've had people screaming that he's a cheap Alfred rip-off.

The reason he works well in Agent Carter is because he's mostly divorced from the superhero butler context.

Interesting to see the evolution of Jarvis, Human - AI - Vision

I love both & I think they both have their place and serve(d) their purpose wonderfully. If I absolutely had to choose then I'd go with human Jarvis, though.

Human Jarvis is charming, but you can't beat AI Jarvis
