The Dark Knight AICN: Costume change happens ON camera?

EXT. THE NARROWS - CONT.

Batman is lying face up in a puddle, rain pelts the pavement. An ACIDIC STEAM is rising from "The Batsuit", which has largely disinegrated from his body. A yellow light rapidly blinks on his belt, A TRACKING DEVICE.

(OS) ROARING ENGINE

A sleek black luxury car peels around the corner, straight for Batman. He struggles to move but his body will not respond. He braces himself for impact when...

THE CAR

screeches to a halt. The front fender inches from his cowl.

The door opens and stepping out umbrella first, is ALFRED.

All Right!!! this is some good news...this is something to get excited about!!!
Hell yes! Every rumor and news item (no matter how small) so far has been just spot-on. Everything feels right! I am already hyped!

We gonna have repeat of Batman Forever, I hope it is good reason in the movie why Bruce changes

my idea:

significant plot point:
someone noitces that bruce is bats just by looking in batmans eyes
(FOR EXAMPLE a love interest could do that - similar to the moment in detective comics 474 when silver st. cloud realizes: "it was BRUCE!")

so there would be a need for a costume change!

batman would finally add lenses to his suit! (and maybe a false beard...:woot:)

this would totaly fit into nolans (controversial) realistic approach.

there is a reason for every small detail of the suit.

now there would finally be a reason for lenses!

I remember reading from BOF that the suit was going to be more "metallic."

The film is called "The Dark Knight" and Nolan has stated that the title is very relevant to the film.

Perhaps this new "metallic" costume is the root of the title, sort of like a knight's suit of armor.

I really just hope that they finally nail the cowl for mobility . . . they were so close, but the cowl has always been a bit clumsy . . .

Man, as I've said before ... I'm not big on random costume changes ... but if it has a purpose and a reasoning it brings legitimacy to it. I'm kind of amped for this. I want to see a fresh take on the bat-suit for the big screen. Sleeker the better. Can't wait to see the plot point it is attatched to as well. Sounds kind of major. In my head I'm picturing the first half of the movie is an updated version of the BEGINS suit and then when ish goes down at the start of the 2nd half of the movie, for some reason I'm picturing him in a sleek black and grey suit, with the yellow oval now on his chest. And I'm pumped as hell. Hopefully if they use the oval, they take the BEGINS suit chest symbol, and put it in the oval. I think that would look hot / fresh, while still staying true to the new chest logo. I don't want a repeat of the rounded wing bat.

Speaking of, can anyone do a manip of a black and grey BEGINS suit with the oval on the chest, and a mini version of the BEGINS chest symbol inside of it? Does anyone else think that would look nice besides me?

It didn't say this anywhere. BOF said awhile back, along with the new update, the supposedly the suit would be made even sleeker not bulkier and metallic.

Yes, as in "Dark Night" because so much scary, horrendous, and creepy things will be happening to Gotham City and all characters involved. That is what the meaning refers to. Things have to get real dark and gloomy before they get better. I highly doubt the title is reffering to the costume.

That's a HUGE change in TDK.:wow:

its because Batman becomes fascinated with Arab culture and imbibes certain philosophies of the Middle East and as a result of his new philosophical ways he decides to apply it to his crime fighting style.

The new suit will have the red/checkered ghootra hang down behind his cowl. Instead of a Bat shield/insignia on the front, there will be Arabic writing of The Batman or The One That is the BAT on his chest plate. There will also be a decorated pearl/diamond/saphire colored and jeweled 3-D scimitar sword on the back of his cape.

I don't why they need to change it. No yellow ovals are needed if you're sneaking around, trying not to be seen. This just doesn't make sense to me. Leave the costume, the tumbler and everything that worked in Begins alone.

That looks too burtonish to me. I like the black bat on the Begins costume. Leave the Burton things in the past.

I'd just like to see something a little more sleek, more dark and stealth. Being that Nolan will be sticking to his realism take, I doubt we'll see anything that's all fabric, but maybe something in-between.

Yeah like this is true:o

Probably just minor

Damn.....if only there was some record on how most fanboys felt about the BF costume change....

Well, I agree with others on the subject that Batmans suit will be destroyed by acid. It sounds pretty reasonable.

This is AWESOME news.

When I heard about the costume change, I imagined Batman getting his current suit (The Begins Suit) all torn and ravaged from fighting crime, and like in Begins, he goes back to Fox for the latest in armor. We get another cool scene between Bale and Morgan about cave-diving -- bam! New and improved Bat-suit.

This movie will be glorious.

it makes the most sense to me that somone who was involved in the production of the prototype suit sees pics of batman in the paper or somthing and realises they sold that to wayne enterprises. Obviously anyone with the right resources could have taken the suit and became batman but, there would have to be more detail to tie bruce to the suit. Therefore he'd have to change the suit to protect his identity.
