The Dark Knight AICN: Costume change happens ON camera?

Sleeker doesn't mean he'll be wearing tights 'ala DEAD END. It probably means a thinner rubber suit or maybe something similar to Spidey's suit(as far as the materal goes) but with armor plating. Yeah, that could work IMO.

Don't they use a similar material on both the Superman Returns and Spiderman suit. I forget what materials they used...something with an M...

Millskin on the Superman Returns suit I believe...not sure about Spiderman.

Batman gets recognised by someone and he just HAS to change costume!

Bring on the news people :woot:

Black on Black- I'm okay Jack. Black on Grey- Someone gots to pay.

If the bat is rounded, someone's gonna get pounded.
If he runs in tights, it really bites.

He won't be wearing tights, and his suit won't be more metallic. I can gaurantee it.

It doesn't look the same. it look like cumbersome rubber.

I am talking about the new suit being a combination of the Millskin and armor type material. They had success with it in Superman Returns in regards to motion.

How about the scenario where Lucius comes up with a thinner lighter kevlar ala slmost fabric like, thus making it easier for Bruce to move and leading to the creation of a new suit?

Hmm, I'd prefer them not to come up with anything that looks too fabricy. If they're going more organic the plastic weave stuff they use in robotic air muscles and exoskeleton kind of things would be pretty interesting:

The huge-necked cowl should also stay, makes him look more animalistic

But still, he needs protection from falls, knive stabs, clubbing weapons and other crime fighting hazards that aren't gun related. I don't think giving him some fabricy kevlar is going to help him in that department.

Gee, and I was hoping he'd have the modified suit in the beginning of the movie, not halfway through it.

D'oh!

that's dumb (sorry to be blunt). bruce doesn't know he's in the beginning of a new movie and thus needs to reveal a new suit. it makes more sense for story that it'd happen in the course of things, which for us as viewers is somewhere in the middle.

also- the idea that joker soaks batman in acid and he gets out of the suit barely, but with some burns, is a rad idea. i would add to that- capture batman and have joker and scarecrow about to kill him when he escapes the acid on the suit.

Whatever the changes maybe, I hope they'll include longer bat ears and the yellow oval. That just me though.

"Finally, a tipster wrote in to Batman On Film claiming they've heard Batman's costume will be altered for the sequel, in an attempt to mimic the changes Bruce Wayne would make as time evolved. Says the tipster, "The appearance will not change dramatically, but will be lighter and sleeker than the one in Batman Begins. It may also be constructed to look more like heavyweight fabric and armour than rubber."

This sounds rather close to the information we already have. A sleeker more fabricky costume. I think the major plot point has to do both with the Joker or some circumstance damaging the suit while the new design also gives Batman the mantle of "The Dark Knight" among the people of Gotham city. I mean we haven't even been in this story long enough to see how Batman becomes a "Legend" in Gotham.

Those would be changes I would hate. I don't think Nolan will do that, though.

I'm excited.

Whatever the reason for the change is, I'm sure it will be a worthwhile reason. It's not like in Schumacher's movies, "oh, no, I'm fighting a cold villain, I need a cold suit." "Oh no, I've changed my mental outlook, I need a new suit." Because how would that translate here? "Oh no, I'm fighting the Joker, I need a funny suit." Batman in banana shoes and a squeaky red nose.

"Hey-HEEEEEEEEEEyyyy kids! HeheheheHEHEHE! So a man walks into a bar, takes a little man out of his pocket, and sets a tiny piano on the bar. Oh, wait, I can't tell THAT joke... heheheHEHEhe... yeah."

I'm sure that it's something like the old suit getting destroyed, or as Miranda suggested, a change necessitated by the press or something - people recognizing his equipment.

Or, as in the novel "Inferno," by Alex Irvine, where the Joker stole Batman's equipment, we could see a similar situation arise. In that case, the new suit would not necessarily be an improvement in Batman's view, but a low-tech solution to an immediate problem.

There's also the possibility that the person who said "major plot point" overstated the case somewhat, as people often do, especially people who don't know the meaning of "plot point," which is nearly everyone.

In which case the change of costume could be something as simple as, it was time to upgrade.

As for people expecting new scenes with Lucius, I would remind you that he's not in Applied Sciences anymore, and there's probably some techie down there cataloguing things while Lucius is up in the boardroom wearing suits from Jos. A. Bank and drinking lattes. Which is what I would be doing, if I was him. ;)

So Batman may not be able to get new gizmos from WayneTech. Or, naturally, Bruce might have an arrangement, through Lucius, with the new kid in Applied Sciences. But it won't be like it was in Begins, with Bruce and Lucius in the basement playing with cool new toys. That ship has sailed.

Lastly, I love the suit from Begins, as compared to any of the previous Batsuits on film, anyway. That said, I'm happy to see what they come up with now. There is a lot right with the Begins suit, and what is right with it far outweighs all the fanboy whining points, but even so, there's always room for improvement, and I welcome it.

So no, Crooklyn, there is no backpedaling involved. :o :D

Maybe Batman needs a pee but can't go in his rubber leggings, leading to the tights/trunks combo we all know and love?

As for the cowl I am not sure. Does Bruce want to order ten-thousand of more of those things? I want it to be sleaker as well but who is going to make it?

That's the best description I've heard yet. More "heavyweight fabric" and less "clunky rubber". A lot of the arguments regarding the suit material misconstrue what is meant, when people want a more refined costume similar to the comics. Somehow that means cheap cloth you can find in any clothing store.

It'll definitely be interesting to see if the new suit will go with his new title. Perhaps a darker may take form, I'm definitely hoping for somewhat longer ears, and a large cape with noticeable scallops.

The rest of your post clearly indicates you are not the type of person I was referring to. :o

Well looky...looky? The overrated slobs website has some TDK news? WOW! LOL......I hope the news turns out true. BOF did report awhile back that there would be some costume changes to make the suit lighter, and more comfortable for Bale. I was hoping Nolan would do this as well.

Off the top of the head...Perhaps, during Bruce's first confronation with the Joker, he gets sprayed w/ Acid and he's actually severely burned/injured etc. (Leading to his first significant physical scarring as Batman ala by the Joker?)

So he needs to modify a new suit to withstand the chemicals?
