The Dark Knight Alan Dale in TDK - Salvatori Maroni?

Are u sure the role of the mayor was up for grabs? I figured it was for the caller or the radio announcer guy.

We'll never know now, because Showbiz removed it.

The mayor was up for grabs. The casting side was titled "Mayor", and i'm pretty sure Mayor was written up at the top in pen.

damn, Dale would have made a good Mayor Hill.

Oh well, I was wrong on that one. Still though, I don't think Dale is Maroni.

Judging by the casting done so far, and the casting sides already out, there's not much else out there for Dale to play.

He's got a small part (i.e. not a main cast role), and he's a villain.

So far, the only confirmed villains are Joker, low-level thugs, 'freaks', 'vigilantes'(?) and Maroni.

Black Mask is still unconfirmed (which is also possible).

The only role Dale seems eligible for is Maroni (I can't see him as a freak, OR as a thug taking orders from someone else).

The lovely Ms. Bell really has her work cut out for her now.

Too bad my man won't be in TDK

But, we won't see this either, so I am a actually a bit happy:

This guy does mostly TV... I am not buying this until Jett comes out with a rumor with some truth to it

Dale was also in a few episodes of LOST, and he was great in them - I can definitely see him as Maroni. He was pretty cold in those episodes of LOST....

I still picture him as Jim Robinson.

A small villian role Alan Dale could be playing is that of Loeb? Has there been any word yet on if Colin McFarlane is reprising his role in the sequel. I'd be pretty confident to assume that the character of Loeb will make a return in the Dark Knight.

Alan Dale looks like he could be a relative of Patrick Stewart. He doesn't look like him too much, yet somehow the similarity is there.....

Ooh, might be right.

From BOF:-

Nothing official at all here -- just good scuttlebutt -- but the word is that Alan Dale is playing a certain Gotham mobster that has a significant role in THE LONG HALLOWEEN and BATMAN AND THE MONSTER MEN. This character has a certainly dealing with Harvey Dent which is quite famous. We SOON shall see!

Possible.

vice president prescott as maroni? i can deal with that. I always enjoy alumni of the 24/lost universe getting roles.

I really don't know this guy but he doesn't seem like the Maroni type. Is it really that hard for Chris to cast a good italian american actor to play a mob boss? He did the same with Wilkinson as Falcone.
When does BOF win back its credibility?

I mean if this is correct, which it seems we are assuming, BOF also broke the TDK Title and perhaps the most important news so far: Rory's First Kiss.
Jett nor Batman-on-Film ever lost it's credibility with me, but some poster's on this message boards did when they openly attacked the website the clearly states that all the spoliers they had are to be taken as RUMOR!. Ridiculous.

Actually UK newspaper The Telegraph were the first to bring the Alan Dale news and it was then reported by AICN late last year.

Only 'cos it's the silly season (what does that term even mean?) do I bother mentioning this, but the "Fresh Prince" has sent in a piece that appeared in The Telegraph over in England. Apparently, Australian actor Alan Dale (known best for his roles on "24", "West Wing" and as the rich grandfather in "The OC") is up for a role in THE DARK KNIGHT. They don't know, however, which role Dale will be playing. My money's on Harley Quinn, but we'll apparently find out in March when the full cast is revealed.

NOTE: I e-mailed that paper for a copy of the article and at the time they said there was no record of an interview with Dale. What an excellent research department they have eh?

Bouncer could be his second-in-command, and does the dirty jobs that Jim needs to keep his hands out of.

If Dale is indeed Maroni, he's going to be great. From what I've seen of him, he can be pretty cold on screen....

Alan Dale is undoubtedly a very good actor, but i agree with the feedback that Nolan should try to cast an actor with at least some Italian lineage for an obviously Italian role such as Maroni. its not about race, it just adds an extra layer of believability, you know what i mean?
