Short version: Has anyone been reading this thing?

Yeah, I actually posted a pretty lengthy review of the second issue in one of the Bought/Thought threads awhile back. Haven't got to my LCS this week, so haven't got the third issue just yet. I enjoyed the book on it's own merits, but this video really made me appreciate it more:

Unfortunately, most likely due to the very graphic content of the issue, there isn't a video floating out there for the second one far as I'm aware.

Here's a thread that's got a lot of different stuff about the project and stuff behind the scenes as well.

Yep been getting it too - havent picked up issue 3 yet as there has been a crazy amount of snow here in the UK and thus delays but yes it has been excellent. Twisted but facinating read. Love Jacen Burrows linework in this and others like 303 and Crossed and was hoping for a sequel to the Courtyard since it came out, this hasnt been disappointing me. The end of issue two really blew me away, so to speak, and I can hardly wait to read the next issue. Apparently this is Moores last comics work...

very interesting doc there too btw

About this being Moore's last comic work...

I'm not entirely sure on that. It was mentioned as such at the Avatar Press Comic-con panel, but he still has two volumes of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen due in 2011-12, and a collaboration with Steve Moore on a GN about the history of magic due in 2012-13. Unless something has changed those are still scheduled, so I'm not sure how accurate that statement was, or if it was something that Moore himself has proclaimed.

I'm not sure if fans will pick up on the book unless its published by either of the Big Two. I haven't seen it in my neck of the woods.

As for whether this is his last work...Seems unlikely. If Jim Shooter can delay retirement, so can Alan Moore.

Yeah, it definitely won't see in the range of stuff for the big two, but I'm sure it'll end up doing decently once the trade hits. I still think Moore is a big enough name that people will take notice, and I think his TopShelf work did pretty good in the long run.

And I think some shops cut their orders due to the controversial content of the second issue (I know at least one store did and posted notices in Florida), so there might not be a good amount in singles out there. Just a guess, though.

Good point - there are another two volumes due for League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Definatly read that when this series was solicited hmm maybe because League started already? Still havent read issue 3 yet!

Yeah, it has started. 1910 came out in '08, I think. 1969 should come out this year, and the last volume (which hasn't been titled, but I believe I read it'd be titled after the year of its release, so 2012) should come out in '12.

Yeah, Moore's pretty famous for doing detailed scripting. Read somewhere he may burn six pages of text describing a single frame...

Alan Moore's amount of writing is fairly freakish. I don't know how he does it, to be honest, but I'm glad he does. It obviously works with his artists. Second volume looking pretty good, too

Thanks for the kind words. I didn't make a second video because my limited knowledge is based on Understanding Comics, not H.P. Lovecraft. Obviously, the latter came into play much much more in the second and third issues, hence why I didn't make any videos for them.
There is, however, in-depth discussion on some corners of the web, and several points that have been made are truly excellent - especially with regards the third issue.

If you haven't read it yet, this should get you up to speed:

Ah, okay. I just figured the amount of sex and nudity would make it difficult to upload without censoring. Thanks for this link, too. I didn't catch what was actually being said, but I pieced together what was going on. I guess this was a place that reading The Courtyard would've come in handy.
