Alex Cross

idris just has a better more bad ass look

idris looks like a bad ass not to be messed with

tyler looks like carl winslow
if they wanted to set up a new franchise they should have went with idris elba.tyler perry just doesnt fit this role its a dam shame.

since idris elba didnt get to be alex cross how about the next shaft

btw is'nt this suppose to be like a suspense thriller and not an action film lol

Tyler seems very bland. And I've never seen any of the Madea movies, so I'm not basing that on anything but the trailer.

Just compare him to Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington (who was originally considered to play Cross in Kiss the Girls), or Idris Elba, and picture how much more of an intimidating presence they have.

they were likely going for the more calm and reserved family man route

Well, that is Cross to an extent, if you've read the books. I like seeing that they'll feature his kids and grandmother, 'cause that's one of the thinks I really missed about Along Came A Spider, that Morgan Freeman aged Cross out from having small children and a grandmother.

I liked the other Cross movies and this actually looks pretty good. Probably see it when it hits dvd.

Looks like a... Rob Cohen movie. Perry looks pretty good but the standout is Fox.

Fox is clearly going to upstage the hell out of Perry in this movie.

Alex Cross is supposed to look like Ali - he's tall, fit, and good looking. Sorry, but Tyler Perry is only tall. And he's not a very good dramtic actor. It's great that he wants to branch out, but I wish he could have done so in any movie but this.

That being said, this looks like its Alex Cross only in terms of some of the characters - I don't recognize this to be from any of his books, which is a shame - some of them are freaking amazing.

I'll still give this a try, but I'm not gonna get my hopes up, though I enjoyed seeing Dr. Cox in the trailer, lol.

Nothing about the trailer grabbed me...I was actually bored. The lead actor isn't very compelling.

But... YOU DON'T EVER CROSS ALEX CROSS! BECAUSE IF YOU CROSS HIM HE'LL BE CROSS AND HE'LL CROSS YOU OFF HIS LIST, MEANING YOU'LL END UP SIX FEET UNDER WITH YOUR GRAVE MARKED ONLY BY A CROSS!

Sorry... this movie just has one of the stupidest taglines I've ever heard. I wish Patterson hadn't given him such a generic last name. Had he been a tad more creative, we could have gotten taglines like...

DON'T EVER PISS OFF ALEX PISOV.

or...

DON'T EVER F**K WIT' ALEX PHUKWIT.

Any movie not featuring impressive CG or action sequences looks like a tv movie.

I can see Matthew Fox stealing this movie. His character reminds me of Jim Caviezel's in Deja Vu a little bit.

That's not really true. There are plenty of dramas and comedies that don't look remotely TV movie-esque. And The Raid proved that you don't need big bucks or FX to make an epic action movie.

Perry will bring in that black woman crowd. Elba could also, but they love them some TP though, and he's guaranteed to bring in people with his first lead role outside of his bubble.

or maybe TP is doing the one thing everyone wishes he'd do...branch out

Who was wishing for that? I'm perfectly content to see Perry continue to dress up like an old woman in 1,000 more movies that I'll never see.

There seems to be this assumption that Alex Cross is some kind of uber badass. He's not. He's certainly capable of it, but most of the time, Cross is an intelligent, well spoken, calm, and often polite person.

I don't hate the trailer. It's not very impressive, but Perry certainly fits the role better than I thought he would, and he does seem to have some ability to play both the calm, intelligent side of Cross and the more agitated and intense one. So the range of emotion that Cross is known foroii probably there. I don't think he looks stiff in the trailer so much as he looks measured, which is what Cross is. He seems to be handling the action stuff well enough. The story itself looks a bit simple, but I haven't read CROSS yet, so can't really comment on that.

I see what you're saying, but the trailer almost makes them look like they are trying to portray Cross as an uber-badass.

A couple of clunky lines and a terrible tag line aside I thought it looked pretty good, Fox looks to have morphed into a formidable nut job character and it all looks pretty slick.
