Alex Garland Directional Debut "Ex Machina"

^Great poster, Vikander is an actress I will now be watching out for after seeing this.

Can't wait to see this again, but on Blu-ray. Glad I pre-ordered the Zavvi steelbook as it's no longer in stock. :woot: June 1st baby!

I saw the trailer for this in front of "It Follows", looks interesting.
What's really freaky is even on the big screen I was absolutely positive the lead was Natalie Portman, it never even crossed my mind that it wasn't until I looked up the movie on IMDB.
That actress "Alicia Vikander" looks and sounds exactly like Natalie in the trailer, especially her V for Vendetta look.

New trailer:

I recommend ya'll to not see any more footage. Go see this with fresh eyes. My favorite film of the year so far.

This is the movie that Chappie should've been: smart Sci-Fi about AI.

I hope this plays around here this week or the next.

I have to wait to see this. Once again I fall victim to a limited release.

^ Same here :argh:

It looks like April 24th is the wide release.

Limited opening this weekend, just 4 theaters, but it is putting up a pretty hefty per screen average of $46,500 ($186,000 from 4 theaters)

A24’s sci-fi Ex Machina, which marks the directing debut of 28 Days Later scribe Alex Garland, is looking forward to a strong per-theater of $46,500 this weekend at four locales in New York and Los Angeles.

This is my second favorite movie after 'It Follows'.

It's truly the film that Chappie wanted to be, and failed. Chappie ia a movie that thinks it's smart, vs. Ex Machina which is a movie that IS smart.

It's beautiful, shot in digital and doesn't hide that it's digital, but still retain a naturalistic look.
The acting is truly amazing from everyone. I loved Alica's facial expressions. It's cute and child-like. Oscar Issac man...the Academy needs to pay more attention to him. He's just an amazing versatile actor. Gleeson does a great job, playing a more intellectual version of the character he played in Frank.

Still my #1 film this year. Can't see it being beaten anytime soon.

In love with the score too.

This film is getting an expansion to its release starting tomorrow night.

I caught it for free tonight.

I really enjoyed it. Very solid film all around. The acting was great. It was well paced. Good concepts with actual payoff. Great execution of its robot design.

Oscar Isaac is so damn good in this. From what I heard early on I expected his character to be much more brooding. Instead he was such a great bizarro take on Steve Jobs.

Watch as few trailers as you can, especially as the most recent clips give a lot away.

Seek it out.

This will be playing near me starting Friday. Can't wait to see it. :chd:

I can't believe there isn't a single comment on the dance scene.

Well I never mentioned it because I wanted it to be a surprise, the less you know about this movie before seeing it the better.

I can't believe there isn't a single comment on the dance scene.

I hinted at it in my comment near the top of this very page... in the form of YouTube. Pay attention. :o
