Based on the book about the kid that has the worst day ever. I still remember reading this thing in grade school.

Why do they insist on greenlighting this stuff? I guess they bank on name recognition (which seems to be what's keeping Hollywood alive).

Have the Doctor Suess adaptations taught us nothing? A 22 page book does not a feature film make.

Where the Wild Things Are.

Didn't care for it. Spike Jonze and Dave Eggers. Ugh. I like Alan Moore's take on the matter. Just let the book be a book and enjoy it that way. Why does everything have to be adapted/translated/bastardized into a big budget, made-by-committee Hollywood film?

Not everyone likes reading, y'know.

Where the Wild Things are was many things but it was hardly a typical made-by-committee film.

Sure, maybe not to the extent that any of the Doctor Suess adaptations were, but the beauty of these childrens books lies in their simplicity and succinctness. Trying to adapt these very simple (but effective) stories into a 90 minute feature length film leads to unnecessary plot/story/character elements added that muddle, bloat and bastardize with extraneous garbage, what should be a "simple", well-crafted story.

Looks a lot better than that other ALEXANDER movie...

Meh. Looks pretty generic. You got the modern references ("hashtag awesome", "Wreck-It-Ralph") that no one actually says, you got the mild gross-out humor, the celebrity cast members, the goofy slapstick with a wild animal. Heck, the kid's barely even the main focus, it's all about the parents and the older brother embarrassing themselves.

Still...it does have Of Monsters and Men on the soundtrack and a Donald Glover cameo.

Maybe it'll be fun, but right now it just looks kind of cheesy and forgettable.

Looks fun to me, these types of movies are rarely the worst being made plus Carrell has a good track record.
