Remakes that SHOULD be made.

I was flipping through channels the other day and came across an old 80s movie, The Terminal Man. I remember reading the book and loving the ever-loving crap out of it for its realistic premise, but really the book and especially the movie suffer in their portrayal of computer technology. Imagine if that movie were made today, how gritty, realistic, relevant and awesome it could be. Man, it would be sweet. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else knows of any films that would make great remakes, I know this thread has probably been made before about a dozen thousand times but I don't care.

I just don't think thats possible, nor is it a good idea.

One you wont have Malcolm McDowell as Alex. His performance is what made the character memorable. IMO

Two you wont have Stanley Kubrick who's visual style and direction for the film is yet another thing that makes it what it is. So I'm going with a big no on this remake.

Most of Hollywood is stupid. I don't get the logic behind remaking good films. The only films that should be remade are old ones with good ideas behind them but bad execution. What the hell is the point of remaking a good film!?!

A couple people on this thread have already mentioned The War of the Worlds. Ever since I read that book I've wanted not a remake of the movie (any of the movies) but a complete reimagining of the novel, that actually follows the plot of the book and is set during the turn of the 20th century. I've hated every film adaptation I've ever seen of that H.G. Wells masterpiece.
