I've heard and read alot of site and magazines saying that he will always be the remembered as the worst fiolmaker ever. That he sometimes was shooting during day and it became night but he would continue shooting like that. and in the editing he would just let it that way and the scen was supposed to be a day scene, and he didn't care. he was also terrible with special effects and many other things. Is this true? was he that bad a director.

He was bad. That is true. But, I don't know if he actually deserves the title of worst director. He did somehow manage to make a good movie. Bride of the Monster, I believe, it was called. But, Plan 9 was HORRIBLE!

I happen to like some of his movies, but they are so bad that they are good and funny. I don't think he's the worse director ever, but possibly the worse director of his time. Uwe Boll is the worse director of our time.

Well, I think the guy had good intentions but definitely bad ideas about what made a movie good. I think he tried, and had a true love for the art, he just had radically different ideas about how to go about it.

I'd say the worst director is Michael Bay. He doesn't seem to care for movies more than he cares to want to impress people with his explosions and over the top action sequences. I don't see a love for the art there, just a desire to get the paycheck.

He also represents the worst of Hollywood; overindulgent high concept films that cater to the lowest common denominator of audience and require as much brain power to understand as it does to flush a toilet (which coincidently both deal with crap).

Actually, I change my mind. Uwe Boll is worse than Bay. Unlike Bay who may have one redeeming quality, Boll has a negative amount of redeeming qualities. Take what I said about Bay and multiply it by 19090225 and you'll get my assessment on Herr Boll.

As bad as Ed Wood was, if anyone attempted to remake one of his films, fanboys would deem it blasphemy. Someone suggested an update of Plan 9 from Outer Space once, and he got booed and hissed like a mofo.

Ed Wood at least made bad movies that had an entertainment value to them. I mean if you look at it Ed Wood was a hell of a comedy director. :)

He was the worst director, but of his time. I think. There are directors running around now these days that make him look like Francis Ford fu*king Coppola, and that's extremely sad. However, I'm kinda grateful because without him, there would be no masterpiece that is Burton's biography movie, Ed Wood, which ranks as one of my favourite movies ever. Ed Wood FTW.

I like how in most of his movies he casted his friends.

Kind of reminds me of Tim Burton.

He really was one of the most incompetent filmmakers of his day, although I think there were plenty of lesser filmmakers out there that never even saw their work in a theater, major or otherwise.

But for all that, he really loved what he did. He was a hard worker with an undying love for movies. And as bad as his movies were, they came from the heart.

Unlike Charlie's Angels 2: Full Throttle, which came from the ass.

Worth checking out Burton's Ed Wood... amazing.

Did he really do all that weird cross dressing?

Yes.

And from what I understand, he wasnt too shy about it.

No. I don't believe Ed Wood was the absolute worst director of all time. His intentions were good I'm sure, but his execution left much to be desired. However, if it wasnt for the fact that Plan 9 was at one time considered the worst movie of all time, I really question if we would even be discussing him. Because that title brought in a whole new generation that may have been largely unfamiliar with Wood and his films, prior to Plan 9 being considered one of the, or THE worst film of all time. Considering that this happened only a few years after his death, where he died basically pennyless.

At least Wood cared about making movies and entertaining (in some way, i guess) his audience, and which is why his films are appreciated. Boll is just in it for the money, which is why his movies just plain suck.

Well he is just ******ed. Just read quotes from him, listen and watch interviews or even listen to his dvd commentaries. His thinking is warped on so many levels. Here is a nice video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L93CCSWIaa0

Why don't you watch Plan 9 From Outer Space or Orgy of the Dead and decide for yourself.

Just the opening monologue by Bela Lugosi in "Glen or Glenda" tells you something was very wrong.

i'm so sick of people calling uwe boll the worst director ever... he might be the worst 'main stream' director of our time, but hardly the worst ever

there are plenty of straight to dvd movies out right now that make uwe boll's work look like citizen kane.

at least uwe got kristiana loken to go topless. that deserves some kudos on his part.

But that is all Uwe Boll is. A straight to dvd caliber director who somehow gets theatrical releases. His movies are of poor quality and just simply fail at the box office. And if people want to say that he is the worst then that is their opinion and are just using their frame of reference. And any actress can get topless it is all a matter of what they get for it.

I'd say either Uwe Boll or Pitof would be the worst directors ever...

I don't think Ed Wood was the worst director ever. Not when movies like Little Man are made. Considering terrible movies like that are made, have studio backing, and have a large budget, there is no way you can call Ed Wood terrible.

Well the problem is that Little Man made a nice profit which kind of just warps that whole argument.
