I hope at the end they zoom in on a dead Predator, and he wakes up and looks at the camera. "Th-Th-That's all folks!" *Beeyyyoooup!*

That only happens if Uwe Boll or Joel Schumacher directs.

Why have Cameron's movies stood the test of time? Simple. They came out first. People have fuzzy memories of them. If The Terminator came out today, it would be despised for how shallow and undeveloped the characters are, among other things.

um...anyway.

Alien or predator might not return to its roots without the original film makers reminding folks the diference between then and now and the sharp decline in quality. Some have forgotten and now the simple horror elements seem to be what these directors think is all they need for a full movie. Hell AVP doesnt even compare with Predator 2 lol At least i feel something when Glover gets further into the fight with the predator across the city. With avp i felt nothing because the characters were uninteresting and had pretty much zero time to be nothing than empty. I still dont know wtf Weyland was coughing for. Its "generic disease X" eh.

Well this is kind of good news.

Pete over at AlienExperience has passed along some news about the ALIEN VS. PREDATOR sequel that should afford fans holding their breath for some good news to come out of the franchise a chance to exhale a little. ALIEN VS. PREDATOR: SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST (as it is now officially being called) will not be based on Shane Salerno's unpopular script taking place in Texas. Two words: Wyoming, baby. Naw, that's not true. The details of the shooting script are unknown at this point but it will still be a script from Salerno, just a different one. And be sure to check out AlienExperience.com for always interesting, up-to-the-minute updates on all things Alien, not only in terms of the film but if you're a fan of the franchise as a whole, as well. AVP2, from directors Colin and Greg Strause and newly aquired cinematographer Daniel Pearl (who, interestingly enough, was DP on both the original TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and its remake - huh, I did not know that) is set for an August 10th, 2007 release.

Well, thank goodness.

Of course, I'm not happy the same guy is writing the new script.

Oh great. I feel comfortable knowing someone from the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is on the project. lol :down

Even Stephen Hopkins did a bad horror freddy film, and his transition to scifi was bumpy but compared to others a step up..Sam Raimi did surprisingly well with spiderman, 99% of others are god ass awful.

Yes its just the cinematographer but i cant stand horror. Its the anti-good film and proud of it imo, which would be fine if they didnt touch films i like :(

I hope this thread is some sick joke. Alien vs Predator 2? The first one was trash.

I'd rather watch his action/comedy Army of Darkness or the over-the-top slam-bang angstpic Darkman, frankly. I liked Sam a lot more before he did Spider-Man movies.

AVP was a waste of time. The movie should have taken place in the Aliens world and not on earth..it had nothing to do with the dark horse comics..Basically AVP was garbage!

i had this wierd dream yesterday that i went to the SHH and avp2 had changed its name to something like AVP: prevalation or revelation or something.......

...i was so happy:(

Well it isn't AVP2 anymore. It's "Alien vs. Predator: Survival of the Fittest" now. That's something. :)

Has anyone here read the novel based on the AVP movie? It's far better than the movie. Why?

Character development.
R or NC-17
Five predators instead of three

I wish Paul W.S Anderson would comeback and direct. He's a good director, very underrated and hated. He shouldn't really write movies, but he can still come up with a story/plot for a script, just not write it.

Five predators is how many were in Anderson's script... they even talk about designing the "five predators" on the Unrated disk's special features. However, Fox enforced some more budget cuts and down it went.

I thought the only characters who got any more development in the novel were Graham and Verheiden. And I knew enough about Graham, frankly.

Really? I've sadly been bored with the extras on the 2-disc set. Haven't been in the mood to watch them really.

In the novel you get to know the people on the ship. There's more scenes in the novel, which imo were needed in the movie. The movie just felt too fast and seemed like scenes were missing. No time to really know the people. If you're gonna film it PG-13, film scenes that add character development. I rather have that than gore or blood anyday.

Fox sucks. Nice logo, but you suck.

There was a time when you saw that logo and you knew..knew you were in for a treat. Now that treat has become a nasty looking turd with movies like Rebound, Garfield. Fox also likes to double-dip DVD's for no reason. Just release both sets at the same time Fox or just release the 2-disc set. Also, let's not forget the ultimate no-no. AVP rated *gasp* PG-13? That film should have been R or even NC-17, then cut down to R for a wide theater release.

The rating doesn't bother me because... well, see, I think Aliens is the most intense film in either series. But the thing is, there's almost no blood in it at all. If you released that movie today, it'd probably be PG-13 except for multiple "****s" in the dialogue keeping it from that. I can tell you all the scenes of blood right now -

- Chestburster scene, which is quickly cut away from. The least-bloody of any chestburster up until the AVP quick-cutaway.

- Some spatter of blood appears on the drop ship window when Ferro is attacked off-screen.

- Cut on the side of Ripley's head which appears after she falls down the airlock shaft.

THAT'S IT. Seriously. I'm not even kidding. I once watched the movie expressly looking for blood, because of how little there seemed to be, and that's right... there's a significantly toned-down chestburster, and beyond that? Pretty much jack. Some off-screen blood on a window. A cut on Ripley's head. We actually have to count this stuff.

Hell, AVP had about the same amount. Frankly, it had far more blood if you actually count Predator/Alien gore, but obviously the MPAA does not.

And isn't that what it's all about? It's AVP. It's about exploding aliens and Predators getting their skulls busted open. Which we get about as much as we could hope for, considering the budget constraints.

Why the book is better than the movie is because novels based on movies/tv shows are always better. Even the Catwoman novel is better than the film! But I agree, R or NC-17, Character development, more predators, more aliens, and Paul coming back.I,too,am a huge fan of Mr Anderson, and honestly do not know why people hate him. I loved Mortal Kombat one and AvP. Let me say movies aren't set out to be Oscar winning or memorable: they are just entertainment. That's exactly what the AvP and Mortal Kombat movies are (sorry havent seen Resident Evil movies)

That's what I'm talkin' about! It was Aliens VS. Predator, and for what it was worth, the scenes between those characters got pretty gory! Heads were sliced off, brains splattered all over the place. Alien intestines melting through floors, all that good ****. Not to mention the scene where Alex blows out the back of that one Alien's head with what I guess was some sonic wave emitter.

Nah, it was the rivet-driver they used to drive their anchor spikes into the ice on the way down the tunnel. That descent is where we're first introduced to that device, so that we recognize it later.

One thing that bothered me with these teenage predators, was the fact that they hung up the men without decapitating them. :o that's a no-no. You suck Fox and you damn PG-13 rating. Why you gotta bring in the damn kids?

I suppose they did do that, but the men weren't even the primary prey, after all. They were just in the way. They didn't need man-trophies.

It would have been cool to see blood coming out of one of them guys open wounds, but all frozen. Like in the book. It could have been a classic *jump* scene. Last guy on top is running for his life...then runs into that scene.
