Looks like the trailer is still in the works unfortunately:

Colin Strause: "ADI is going to be talking about working on the film, but there isn't a big event planned for this weekend for releasing any footage yet or big story points. I'll be there for a few hours to hang out and talk, but we are still in the middle of getting the film done and finishing editing the trailer. I know everyone is dying to see stuff, but marketing decides when it's best to show stuff in this very busy season. Also, other films that come out at the same time as ours haven't given out much info either for the same reasons."

QUICK UPDATE:

Nothing much was revealed at the fangoria event other than confirmation that "a new monster" *presumably the predalien* will cause havoc inside the hospital.

Comic-Con July 26-29 "will be a big event for us" AvP2 according to director Colin Strause. Expect some major news and footage by then at the latest.

I'll update this thread with a meatier post once a week from here on in, rather than drop tidbits all over the joint.

EDIT: The reason for the delays, and extra secrecy-according to Colin Strause- is that the studio Fox were pretty miffed by aicns script review generating such negative buzz, especially given that that script isn't the one the film is based on. I guess that the studio is simply waiting until they have a polished effects heavy trailer. CS said that the studio is busy working on final LFoDH and FF2 trailers, and that AvP2 is the next priority for the trailer.

This news can't wait til next week t: As far as I'm concerned, this is the single best bit of news about the direction this movie is taking so far. I'd been asking Colin this question all week, and finally an answer.

*speaking about the predator being a villain again.* "Kills all. No teaming up."

Looks like the humans are seriously outnumbered this time around. It'll be great to finally see some hardcore Predator Vs Human action on the screen again. That's what an AvP movie should be imo - pred vs alien,

Oh, thank god. No awful Human/Predator interaction. That's the part I hated the most in the first movie.

So she kills an Alien by accident, suddenly they're best buddies.

yeah, anderson took it too far there. I understand there is a human/pred team up in the graphic novel, but I just don't like that idea. Sure you can relate to a predator more than an alien because it has similar motivations, but it doesnt mean you should make the character that human.

A pred won't kill an unarmed child or pregnant woman (if either are armed, then thats a different matter) but thats where they should draw the line.
the whole damn point of predators is that they like to kill for fun - any human should be on the cards.

I know theres a strong rumour about a school being involved. I think it'd be cool if the pred starts taking armed kids out

You know, I don't really have anything against Pred/Human interactions, as long as they take their time to develop the mutual understanding.

In the comics for example, there was a Predator that was badly injured and then nursed to health by a female Doctor (because frankly, they didn't know what the hell it was). When the rest of his clan arrived and pretty much went rogue and killed everyone and everything in the colony, he defended the person who kept him alive. Preds are not without honor, sure it's a twisted sense of honor but honor nontheless.

But I'm glad that we won't have any of this in the 2nd Movie. Aliens crashed on earth and the Pred is a one man extermination crew to keep them from spreading. So collateral damage to a high extend is expected.

I wonder if that's got to do with the school scene; sounds like a major setpiece. In Salerno's early draft that was slaughtered by AICN, there were some "school bullying" scenes * * but the creatures never entered the school grounds....or ate the kids though. Sounds edgy, but I guess it depends on just how hard this hard-r movie is. The cast is the weak link imo - far too many youngsters. Glad to hear not all the kids make it.

The fanboy in me really wants this to be true, but the realist is doubtful, to say the least. "Kills all" sounds good, too. That, I have an easier time believeing. Killing kids....I cant imagine the censors letting that make it out of the cutting room.
