CW won't cancel their most pointless show(Legends) for some reason. They will always give priority to their superhero shows.

And yet the likes of Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries have somehow endured.

Legends is at least part of the growing universe, so of course CW is going to prioritize those shows, in addition to Vertigo stuff like iZombie.

It (Riverdale) should be with Supergirl, but they won't move "Jane, The Virgin" that show coming in after Supergirl is doing better than last year, so they won't be moving it. :/

Legends isn't getting cancelled but it's current season ends in March and iZombie is taking its time slot in April.

That's a bummer about the ratings! This show really deserves better ratings! I think they should have paired it with Arrow since the two shows have a similar eerie tone.

Would CW introduce supernatural elements to this, to boost ratings, or is that jumping the shark? I would not put it past them. There is some precedent for that in the books, I think.

There is a possibility of adding Sabrina or going the Afterlife with Archie route. the cynic in me thinks they might just have the Flash visit.

I think they plan on it.

When Cheryl in the last episode said "he was suppose to come back". I'm thinking her and Jason were off doing some kind of witchcraft. Whether that was with Sabrina or not, I don't know. But I have no doubt **** is gonna get really weird on the show.

    For some reason?

The reason is that Legends gets way, way better ratings than all the show on the network besides its Arrowverse cousins (and it's not THAT far ahead of Supernatural).

I actually think it would pair better with Supergirl. It has Glee people behind it as does Supergirl, and has a Pretty Little Liars vibe, which hits the same demo as Glee.

I think it is to dark for Supergirl. Supergirl is all about optimism and girl power. Riverdale is kind of the opposite.

Which is why it would be a nice play off of each other, and I don't see Riverdale as the opposite at all.

I don't think any pairing would get this show much different traction. CW skews male, I believe even Supergirl. The demos might not just be there on the channel.

Of all the dramas on the big 5 networks, these are the only ones that skew male:
    1. Legends of Tomorrow (61% male)
    2. The Flash (60% male)
    3. Arrow (58% male)
    4. Gotham (55% male)
    5. Supergirl (53% male)
    6. Agents of SHIELD (52% male)

The first two episodes of Riverdale are a 50/50 split. Supernatural is 49% male, so there's nothing to suggest it's not compatible.

Every other drama on Fox, CBS, ABC, NBC, and CW is at least 51% female, most are over 55% and some as high as 70%.

It isn't the demographics. It's just not a show that anybody asked for.

As above, it's literally just the Arrowverse shows.

Supernatural, Frequency, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Jane the Virgin, The Originals, The Vampire Diaries, the 100, iZombie, No Tomorrow are all still female skewing, to differing degrees. Airing behind the Arrowverse shows isn't even enough to skew any of them male.

    A coupe of things.

First, four of those shows are on the CW and their big shows. Which means the channel now seems to skew male.

Second, the channel has kind of become the "superhero" network. If you are going to watch something on the CW, chances are you aren't looking for the MTV or Freeform style of drama. At least not without the superhero element. While the percentages show us the split between the demos, it does not display the amount of people watching. Just because you are a male or female watching the Flash or Supergirl, does not mean you are going to be watching a show like Riverdale, which is promoted in a more classical CW manner.

Supernatural is a actually a really good example. It skews a bit female because it belongs to the "old world" CW.

But these shows also get a lot less viewers. Skewing more on those shows don't matter, because they aren't pulling in the same ratings. Not close.

The four Arrowverse shows make up less than 25% of the total TV Fall-Spring season for the CW. The other 75% is all female skewing, and they'd be even more female skewing if not for the ones airing after the Arrowverse shows.

The Arrowverse shows are a pocket. They're the most popular shows on the network but they're still very much the exception to the rule on CW.

Working out the math...The Flash is averaging a 1.13 in the demo this season. If it's 60% male, that means that it has around a .68 among men and a .45 among women. So a female skewing show could get at least .45 from women. If this show hypothetically skewed to 60% female, then it would be .45 women, .3 men, and .75 total. That's above the Arrow ratings, so it is possible for a female show to do well.

What are average ratings for all the shows currently on the network? Do more people watch the Arrowverse every week then the rest of the shows combined?

This assumes that the female demo tuning into The Flash is also interested in something like Riverdale. Perhaps they are simply into superheroes?

It isn't that women don't watch the network. It is that the audience watching the network does not seem all that interested in shows like this, whether they are male or female. And when I say a show like this, one being promoted like old school CW.

Great point. Definitely think we'll be headed into Archie's Weird Mysteries/Afterlife with Archie territory sooner or later.

Also, the show is on Netflix tpp as a 'Netflix Original' so I wonder if it gets cancelled on CW, could it be continued on Netflix?
