Alright let's talk about tonight's ep "Pariah"

Smallville finally overtook NBC in the ratings!!!!!
I just read the prelims. NBC led WB in households, but WB nailed 'em in total viewers. Six million, in fact. Not too shabby. :D

Excellent.

You know over on DTS they said it was number 5 still and it had gotten ratings only just above Unsafe...

WTF are they smokin' over there?

They were probably looking at households not in total viewers..

I have a question though, is this just from people with Nielsen boxes or do they measure people with digital cable boxes now too??

Even better. I'm adding it to the Lexicon as we speak. It should fit in quite nicely over in the Drool thread. *ahem* ;)

It depends on which figures they're looking at. Ratings are just statistics, and statistics can be presented in all sorts of ways. What's important is how The WB uses them, and *they* are most likely looking at the share percentages in the 18-49 demos.

It's a major coup for a netlet like WB to take down one of the icons of network television. I mean it's NBC for god's sake! ABC, NBC and CBS are the granddaddys of 'em all. (Fox doesn't really count because it's relatively a new player in the networks.)

They must be pretty happy.

Kryptonsite message boards had those numbers at first too. Later on someone posted that the more accurate number is 3.3. I think it's hard for them to get the ratings this week because in some markets, Smallville was showing against the presidential stuff on all the other networks. So that should have boasted Smallville's ratings big time because for people who didn't want to watch the president, they were most likely turning to Smallville. I don't know how they factor that in.

Hey, btw, regarding why Alicia didn't teleport out while she was being Chloroformed - She was being HELD. Remember, when she teleports, anything she's touching goes with her, so that wouldn't have helped the situation any. If she passed out in mid transport... well, you guys have seen enough transporter malfunctions on Star Trek, right? LOL

Actually what Alicia originally said was that she can take anything with her that she wants to, I know its still more likely that its anything shes touching but you never know

His acting might be getting better but its still not great, and when I saw that scene it did remind me of the scene in Superman: The Movie.
Yep that scene reminded me of Superman:The Movie also. I almost thought he was gong to fly off and spin the world around and turn back time. ;)

You still feel that way even after Lois' speech?

Yeah, I do. I thought Lois' speech was great in the context of Lois' future with Clark/Supes, but I don't like it applied to the situation with Chloe and Clark. In my mind, Chloe knowing about Clark and not telling him is essentially lying to him. Sure, he's lied for years about it, but he had his reasons. I don't see her reasons for not telling him that she knows.

I think Chloe will have some dilemas to deal with in what to do and when (or if) it's a good idea to let Clark know she knows, but I think her knowing finally has made her understand him better.

I think, this might be just my subjective take on the sitch, that I saw hints of what I was hoping for: that her knowing will finally allow her to give up on her unrequited love for him.

Especially given her taking down the Clark related Wall of Weird items and then her speech to him at Alicia's grave... I think she's ready to just be his friend.

I agree she has a much better understanding of not only him, but of all meteor freaks. I hope you're right about her being ready to be just his friend, that's the role I've always wanted Chloe to take. He needs that, and so does she.

I've got more but I feel horrible critiquing the show. I just like to watch it and space out. I wish they would get back to Clark and Lex though. Hello, you're supposed to be giving Lex another chance Clark. Chloe storyline with Clark is also good. Everything else just seems like padding.

Sorry :(

Aww... never apologize for having your own opinion. If we ran everyone out who had a different opinion, we'd be.. well, some *other* board. ;)

I do have to wonder if we watched the same ep though.
:D

2)Lois seemed out of character. When Lois says into the mic, "First you marry her, and then you date her" I just thought Lois seemed especially harsh.

Just a quick comment on this...
Lois is the quintessential smartass.. I thought that was a perfect line for her for her character to deliver. It's one of her most endearing qualities to deliver lines like that. Like someone else pointed otu though, she didn't exactly mean for that to go over a loudspeaker.

I love that word.. it was used in a fairly recent movie.. "Dodgeball" maybe? We use it at work all the time. I'll spare you the details of how.

LOL! Yeah, really!

Hey, you like my new avatar?

<-----

I did it from a screencap from Pariah...

He looks very supermanly in that cap, so I just had to use it.

They killed Alicia off...
I knew they would, the bastards

I do! I meant to comment on it, and I'm proud to say that I figure it was from Pariah.

noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!

I thought that was kind of funny, pure cliche, couldn't help but giggling. Much better episode this week. Liked everything except the suddenly Alicia is dead kind of jump. Felt like something was missing there. Otherwise, quite a solid episode, high above the norm for smallville

Am I the only one who screamed out "It was you!!!" when the bad guy in this episode came on? You know when they were wondering who attacked Lana?

Good episode...was shocked when they killed Alicia....didn't enjoy the Sand-Man villian rip off though...can't wait to see where they go with Chloe knowing Clark's secret.

Welling has stepped his acting game something serious

Still worried about Lana, even Jason has now become more interesting :(. That's like the Clippers or the Bulls surpassing your favourite NBA team in the standings
