Alright let's talk about tonight's ep "Pariah"

A very good episode. I thought that Alicia dying was a good twist and helped the show to mature from the norm of Clark always saving damsel in distress all the time.

I will say that Clark losing Alicia and going after that "sandman" character reminded me of the whole "Death of Gwen Stacy" story, but that's a small thing to me. I still loved the episode.

About the kryptonsite message boards:

last year i registered with the boards. they were talking about "obsession" (first appearance of alicia baker). I posted a message (jokign around obviously) saying "yea, a girl whose psychotic...what else is new, LOL".

...they banned me, LOL.

but yea, I must say, once again, that this episode was one of the greats.

The conversations Clark had after loosing Alicia I think were some very good and subtle hints at Clark's future as Superman. Also, her death will likely fuel his desire to become Superman down the rode. I think that this could possibly be the best episode of the season.

Tonight's episode was great. At the end, though, was Chloe thinking how could she have missed that Clark was who he is (a "freak") at the end?

Also, the episodes have a different feel towards them now. They seem even darker than they were before. The score in tonights episode was awesome.

One Thing I Think Will Happen Is

I think we will see a BIG change with Chloe the rest of the season
I mean if shes willing to take down the wall of weird because of her finding out about Clark who knows whats next

Nice job, good thing WB doesnt scout these boards regularly or anything... hope thats not your personal site
Actually TV has been just about the ONLY medium that hasn't openly stated they have problems with Bittorrent and file sharing.

For them it's not a real issue. The episode already aired (so they got paid); no matter how good the encode, it'll still never be as good as what you'll get on the DVD (hence you buying the DVD). So from their perspective it's nothing more then a free way to build pub.

Trust me - TV is just about the only medium not having an ass fart over file sharing. But as always, things could change.

Oh...and awesome ep.

Makes me long for what could have been.

Yeah, me too.

He was so superman like in this one. His anger, his dispair, the weight of the consequences... It was just totally wow.

My Gawd. The scene where he finds Alicia is even more effective upon a second showing, but I do wish he woulda hugged her there... but that's my only regret about that scene.

Tom totally rocked in this episode!

I actually cried Darn Smallville. Well at least Alcia has her place now having helped him on the road to becoming Superman. Great episode.

ARGHHHHHHH ALICIA DIES?!?!?!?

Still no torrent up on the websites I go to yet BAH!

Damn being in the UK!

I liked the ep overall, but I'm torn between being impressed at Chloe learning Clark's secret and PISSED at how Alicia was killed off.

There was MORE than enough opportunity for Alicia to teleport away between the time Tim grabbed her and when the chloroform took effect. If she can teleport away faster than Clark can grab her, then she should have easily been able to get away from Tim.

Yes, I realize that the whole point was that she had to die before the end of the episode, but that was just sloppy writing IMO.

Clark's anger however, was awesome, and Chloe's little speech at Alicia's grave was so sad. I can't wait for Chloe and Pete to get together and figure out that they each know the big secret.

My wife cried when Clark found Alicia. And she cried all the way through to the scene b/w Clark and Chloe at the cemetery. Very effective episode. It too makes me long for what could've been. My wife, who's not a follower of the comics but loves the show, was actually MOVED by Tom's perf. That should say something to the suits at WB. They had an awesome Superman and let him go.

I was really expecting Clark to launch fist first into the sky and turn the world backwards to save Alicia.

For a someone Alicia's size, lets say she weighs like 105 lbs for arguments sake, if there's enough Chloroform on that rag she goes down in about 2-3 seconds. That ****e works pretty quick. Being that the guy snuck up behind her and surprised her, it probbaly take her at least half of that time to figure out what the hell was going on. If he had come at her from the front, I'd agree she had enough time to tp, but I thought the fact she got surprised was beliveable.

As for her death, like I said earlier, it goes with the plot of the overall episode. Sand boy is framing her the entire show, so he cant just kill her off or else that basically absolves her of the other crimes. He's got to make it look like a suicide, as it makes her look guilty, and also deters the cops from continuing to look for a killer. I thought in context it made a lot of sense, even though it wasnt as dramatic as some wouldve liked.

You know what's weird, but him screaming when he found Alicia dead was heart wrenching to the core, but the best moment in the entire episode was just before Chloe started taking down the wall. For so long her character grated on my nerves by seeming to be such a whiny brat sometimes, and I half expected her to flip out and be all, "oh my god! He lied to me! That jerk, why would he be like that!" just like from Clark's own nightmares. But instead it was like she realized what his own problem was and felt bad for being so cold to him for so long. That sense from her that it was time to put this stuff behind her, grow up, and try and show Clark that he really does have a friend who understands him now was very touching and made me smile (through the tears of course).

And her speech to him at the grave was so well written. I can't believe that just a bit of heart in her character like this has totally changed my opinion about her. I can't wait to see how she treats Clark from here on out (with warmth and understanding for the first time instead of bewildered shock and outrage).

Wonderful episode, one of the best, if not the best best episodes I've seen from this series to date.

I can't say that I've totally changed my opinion of her, but after rewatching the episode I do feel a little better about her knowing. I'll feel a LOT better once she tells him that she knows. Even if he doesn't want her to know, not telling him that she does just feels wrong to me.

Exactly.. you have to allow a second or two for her shock at being grabbed and being smothered by a chloroform soaked rag. I didn't find it unbelievable at all that she wouldn't have teleported in that scenario. The times she teleported away from Clark were premeditated.

Just thought of something... good thing Clark never made her put a lead bracelet back on.. Can you imagine his GUILT if he realized that she couldn't save herself because he made her put the bracelet back on! Yikes.

Her death was supposed to make us angry I think some people are taking that out on the writers saying she deserved better etc... but that was the whole point it was tragic and senseless.

I enjoyed the episode. Alicia dying madme me  but I guess it had to happen :(
The homage to Reeve was great I had a total geekgasm. Can't wait 4 next week

(small voice) I didn't like this episode. I thought the acting was terrible and the story made very little sense. (/small voice) But I want to be a part of everybody praising it so I'm just going to focus on what I liked.

Chloe in the end scene - she rocks. She was actually crying. She's such a good actress. Does anybody else watch with the closed captioning on? I noticed that the cc said the song they were playing was, "You Don't Know Me" which is an awesome song. I think they decided against putting it in the show though because it's a little too romantic for the situation. Anyway, who knew Minnie Driver could sing?!?!

Excellent points!

I totally agree, but I've always loved Chloe. I think in the long run it will be good for her character to know... it is an interestting twist that she knows but Clark doesn't realize it yet.

I loved the scene at the graveside... Allison Mack did a wonderful job there and her speech was brilliant.

You still feel that way even after Lois' speech?

I think Chloe will have some dilemas to deal with in what to do and when (or if) it's a good idea to let Clark know she knows, but I think her knowing finally has made her understand him better.

I think, this might be just my subjective take on the sitch, that I saw hints of what I was hoping for: that her knowing will finally allow her to give up on her unrequited love for him.

Especially given her taking down the Clark related Wall of Weird items and then her speech to him at Alicia's grave... I think she's ready to just be his friend.

Me and my girl cheered when Clark showed up at the Talon with Alicia specially when Lana exploded with jealousy. . . I thought for a second Clark was going to fry Jason with his heat vision when Jason came close to Clark.
