Am I missing out on a major phenomenon by not caring about the Olympics?

I haven't cared about the Olympics since 2000. Once I hit puberty I stopped giving a ****. A whole lot of pomp and circumstance and it all just boils down to a worldwide pissing contest to see which country has the better runners/skiiers/gymnasts. It's nice for the athletes to bring home gold, but other than that it's utterly meaningless.
