Am I the only one not bothered by the length?

People seem to forget sometimes that all of the classic Bond had quiet moments. In Goldfinger a lot of time is consecrated to the golf game played by Bond and Goldfinger, which sets the confrontation between the two brilliantly. In Thunderball, Bond spends more time talking to Largo than physically fighting him.

Maybe those poker scenes could have used some trimming.

But that poker game ESSENTIAL to the plot, and it establishes the characters and their relationship better than any other scene.

Yeah, but Goldfinger was a 90-minute movie. There's a difference.

But that poker game ESSENTIAL to the plot, and it establishes the characters and their relationship better than any other scene.

Did I ever say I hated that scene or something. I'm just thinking of what audiences probably complained about. You know how people are.

Once again, as much as we like it, the poison scene could've gone. It's not essential to the movie.

I still feel the final action scene is forced and rather contrived. Mainly there because they had to have a HUGE action sequence at the end.

I think the posion scene probably could have been cut......but, why cut it? It does serve a purpose, and I think cutting it JUST to cut it.....I dunno, seems kinda wrong to me. I thought it added to how much Bond had gone through, and just how low Le Chiffre would go to win (desperation was really really seeping through).

For me, the poison scene was sort of like the staircase scene. I mean, yeah....sure, technically speaking the staircase scene could have been cut out completely. But, why? Ya know?

True. Many of these people probably go see a Bond film in theaters and that's it. Us Bond fans are already used to seeing these Bond films stretched into 3 hours on TV.

But, you also have to consider what I said in my original post. I think Casino Royale will suffer from the same fate as OHMSS. It's bad enough that these 90 minute-to-2 hour Bond films get stretched into 3 hours on network and basic cable but to have stuff like OHMSS stretched into almost 4 hours is already a bit too much. I love OHMSS but I can't sit through that everytime its on TV. I have a life, you know. So, I see Casino Royale suffering the same fate.

And, as a result it'll probably not get as much air time as the other films. Which is something that OHMSS is going through now.

NO! NO! Not only poison scene! It looked very effective and I loved to see Bond in so dangerous situation, which could kill him.

When I was seeing this scne, I was very amazed, because I felt myself as Bond, who could die just in moment

I love this scene and I think it is very very necessary to be put in the movie.

Well I didn't have any problems with final scene. It was very emotional and at the same time a bit complicated.

Bond had no time to think was Vesper worth to stay alive or not. He tried to save her, but he couldn't do this.

And BTW, didn't complete destruction of building look so HUGE? For me it did.

I actually thought the final action scene was great. This is Bond, we're talking about. Should he have gone in there, and they given him the girl no questions asked?

I don't really see how, considering this is a 007 movie, how that final scene could have really gone any different. Less action, it would have been conisdered boring and anti-climatic......but, it was great and the action was too, and the building coming down was awesome.

The staircase scene is important for Vesper's character and leads to an important scene between Vesper and Bond.

The poison scene, it's well shot and it looks nice, but once again, it's not essential to the movie.

You still get how desperate Le Chiffre is after he's threatened by the Ugandans.

The final action scene really felt like it was only there because they needed a final action scene more than anything else.

CR had final action scene, which made sense and looked great, that's all.

Goldfinger's golf scene was still long, and so were many scenes of Thunderball, You Only Live twice, etc.

As for the poker scene, from what i could see in the audience I watched the movie with, they didn't seem bored by it at all.

I'll give you Thunderball. Some of those underwater scenes were a snooze-fest but I never felt any scene in Goldfinger was long. All scenes were perfect. And, yeah, YOLT had some long scenes hence why the producers brought back Peter Hunt to re-edit the film since Lewis Gilbert and his editor did a bad job. And, I think Hunt did a pretty good job and there was some things he couldn't fix.

As for the poker scene, from what i could see in the audience I watched the movie with, they didn't seem bored by it at all.

Hey, I'm not complaining and I'm not saying people in my theater were complaining either but I've heard a lot of people complain. What can I say?

I think you should stop finding anything bad in CR.

Final scene was well done and it made sense, I can't see anything bad there.

Other people and critics have said the same thing about the final scene.

I think I've already expressed that I liked the movie and that Craig is the best Bond ever.

The poker scenes were fantastic. Definitely a highlight in the movie. The showdown scene in the collapsing building was cool too.

Of course there had to be a big action finale. It's Bond. The nice change of pace I thought, was the fact that it didn't end with him making out with the girl.

And necessary or not, the poison sequence was brilliantly done. Tense and exciting. Shows the kind of underhanded nastiness the villain will stoop to in order to win.

I'd rather have unnecessary exciting scenes like that, than unnecessary dull scenes like Peter Parker eating cake with the landlord's daughter *yawn*
