Am I the Only one that can't stand Captain America's new custume for the Avengers????
He looks like he is wearing some freakin' Polyester fabric from the 1970's.
No pading whatsoever.
I would have thought in todays time he could have had somthing new innovative like The new Batman outfit or somthing.Gee wiz he is a human being running into battle against all types of Superpowers.I think a little Exo- skeleton would have been fine and a tad bit more realistic.
It was bad enough for part one they took off his Iconic wings off of his Mask in exchange for painted ones.
However I like the costume from the first movie far better then the look for the Avengers.

I think some kind of upper body armour, with a subtle Eagle motif, would have looked pretty cool.

Where the really messed up at is they went with a cowl look instead of sticking with the chin strap helmet. Other than that the suit looks fine.

I agree that the short-bus helmet is the part that sticks out like a sore thumb. The shots of Steve when he's not wearing the helmet look absolutely great, and Chris looks suitably Steve Rogers-ish in the costume. But that helmet....great jeebuz, that has gotta go

I will new to actually see it in action. I generally don't like the Nolan bat costumes when I see them in stills, but they look fine in the films. But yeah, the first avenger costume was fantastic.

I hate it too but not for the reasons you site. For me it is simply poorly executed. We should have gotten CAPTAIN AMERICA's suit as it is in the comics but done well. The same way they made Spider-man's suit look good in the raimi films. Cap's actual suit has more bulk and flows much better.

One can only hope it translates better on screen than it does in the still pics. It is a step down from TFA which is sort of a disappointment.

I have to say, this seems really conflicted. New and Innovative vs something We've seen before (Batman). Something realistic vs Iconic eagle wings.

I personally like that his suit is so advanced that it doesn't need to look like armor to protect him.

I agree with others though, the helmet is pretty ugly.

The helmet does indeed look awful, it just makes the whole costume look out of proportion. As others said I hope it looks better in motion but the TFA costume was much better.

Perhaps they should have just had a cowl, not helmet? The bulk of the helmet and slim line look of the suit makes him look a bit bobble headed.

With a sleeker head piece the whole look would have been much better.

It seems weird that costume was not used for Chris Evans, given that it's seemingly specifically designed for movies.

thats true, if it flowed, as you say it, it would look better. still not that crazy about it though...
