I think that Steve would also be the type of person who wouldn't be interested in getting with a girl who wouldn't have even given him the time of day before he became Captain America. If all they care about is what they see on the outside, and not who Steve really is on the inside, I don't think he'd want to have anything to do with them.

Exactly. It's telling that, of all the pictures Peggy could've kept of Steve, it was the one of him as a scrawny wimp that she held on to.
