Personally, if a game has good gameplay, then I don't really expect a sequel to radically overhaul it. No need to reinvent the wheel or fix what isn't broke.
People still expect something new?

Thing is, while Shattered Dimensions was one of the best Spidey games from this gen... I didn't really feel like Spider-Man. There was no weight to him or... well, anything.

Now, in Arkham City (OMG GUISE, I'VE BROUGHT IT UP! ;O)... you actually feel like you can really take advantage of Batman's abilities. Hell, I said this before, I think it's sad that I've felt more agile as Catwoman, than I have as Spider-Man in a Spider-Man game from this gen. :\

From what I've seen in the trailer for this game, Spider-Man actually moves like Spider-Man. It all looks fluid and dynamic. Exactly how a Spider-Man game should play, so, fingers crossed. :D

I adore free roam, if it gives more areas than the city exteriors is a plus but the problem with many gamers is how they focus mainly on the city and repeated exteriors when it comes to free roam

True, but I'd rather be "limited" to an entire city with a few indoor levels... than limited to being stuck in a building for a whole game.

EDIT: Not sure where the rest of my post went, but I replied again. lol

Kept trying to talk them out of this

Yep.

New areas, wallcrawling on more surfaces

Still, the gameplay was virtually the same. Obviously there will be new areas, it's a new game.

Not so awful, sure not as highly exposed as SD was though

Yep.

How far I care to know

From their tweets and whatnot, it looks like they're putting/have put a lot of effort into this game. Let's hope it's true.

Arkham City is a good example of a great sequel. It doesn't reinvent the wheel, it takes Arkham Asylum's gameplay and refines it.
I think I should amend my statement to, "I don't expect a sequel (to a game with good gameplay) to reinvent the wheel, I expect it to refine that gameplay and enhance the experience."

Exactly.

I think that EoT did this very thing from what we got with SD.

there was less combos in EoT compared to SD, I wouldn't call that refining

Reminds me of what I read as a response from you on the EoT thread before its release, so negative. I might do the same

Hahahaha. You say it's negative, but then say you'll do the same, lol.

It's true though, in a way. I literally HATED everything I saw and read about EoT until I played it. Perhaps it just never looked great in my eyes until I was able to play it myself.

And the same went with the teaser trailer for this game...it looked plain stupid, although I may like it once I play it for myself.

re·fine

/rɪˈfaɪn/ Show Spelled [ri-fahyn] Show IPA verb, -fined, -fin·ing.
verb (used with object) 1. to bring to a fine or a pure state; free from impurities: to refine metal, sugar, or petroleum.

2. to purify from what is coarse, vulgar, or debasing; make elegant or cultured.

3. to bring to a finer state or form by purifying.

4. to make more fine, subtle, or precise: to refine one's writing style.

There is nothing in the definition of Refine that indicates that you need to have more of something. The combat IMO was definitely more polished in EoT than it was in SD, therefore it certainly was refined.

The quality of the moves and the ease at which to pull of special combos makes the combat more fluid. For example, in SD I loved the "Eight legged fury" combo but in order to pull off that manuever you had to execute a 6 button command. Essentially the same combat manuever is in EoT only it is labeled "Spider Rush" and to execute it you have to press L1 + square (I think). They also improved the targeting system. It's still a "soft targeting" but it's a lot easier to hit the target you want to hit. The web strike attack is improved and the ability to upgrade it makes for an awesome powerful hit. Using the various moves I am able to create some very cool combos but that's all up to the player. I have seen some youtube videos of people playing EoT and they just button mash light attack and occasionally throw in a heavy attack. They don't use any special attacks or mix it up. That's just not my style.

Godzilla2014 said sequel though. EoT should've have an overall different mechanic with each Spidey, but it felt exactly like SD.

True, he did say sequel but EoT is the 'spiritual' successor to SD...it's essentially the same thing.

Amazing was web based and 2099 was more melee based. They were different in that aspect...I never felt that I was playing the same character when they switched from one to the other. But yeah, the combat is still based off the same engine that was in SD. I think they could have done more with it had they been given a longer development time frame. I don't care what anyone says though, the Hypersense is just killer.

a new in-game pic:

Nice pic! I wonder if they'll include the 'Freedom Tower' design in the NYC landscape.

Whoa that pic really made up for the latest lackluster ones!

I think a slightly different version of the new pic would have been awesome as the new cover. Closer up, obviously. With maybe (with the exception of the symbol) the surroundings/Spidey having less saturated colours.

I just hate this whole the symbol is the cover nonsense.

Sorry, I am little bit behind on the news, I was wondering if it can change night to day or day to night? I don't know how to explain that lol.
