the balance of outside and inside is quite good.
if a game maker want to succeed with spidey they have to make you FEEL like spidey. you should be able to swing where you want and climb any surface and if you can't then have a good reason why.

Completely agreed. I just hope that the entire city is reasonably detailed rather than just being a large box where Spidey can swing with about 5, 6 detailed buildings.

Arkham City was able to overcome that by using a smaller city, which meant everything had an amazing level of detail.

But yeah, it's different for Spidey. I just hope that the city is alive.

So, that screenshot was the new stuff we'd get this week? Or is there more to come?

I don't know if I'm that bothered by detail, all I know is I want to go anywhere and do anything if the world has to be slightly more blocky to achieve that, 'meh'.

Really?

So you've got a huge city... that's dead, but you're fine as long as you can swing around for hours?

Ehh, no thanks.

Well they said it'd be something "big" and that we should keep an eye on IGN, and Marvel's facebook is the one that released that screenshot so... I think it's safe to say we can expect more.

Well, this was something big. A big desk with tiny soldiers.

Yeah. Just as the film trailer won people over, this big thing they talk about has to have a similar effect for the game.

Are we still arguing about how big the city in this game should be? It should be huge!

Arkham City worked because Batman moves slowly around the prison. Spidey could get from Joker's hangout to Penguin's museum in two seconds flat. :oldrazz:

That's what she said!

The game looks good, but since Beenox is doing it and SD was good and EOT was alright, I'm sure it will be fun.

Obviously, the suit really hurts it. I just hope they have alternate suits like in their previous two, because I'll play as Amazing Bag-Man before I run around in that abomination. :o

For that comment, I hope we get no alternate suits.

Man. Can you imagine that though? A free-roaming Spider-Man game with tons of different Spider-Man outfits to swing around in....it would be awesome.

[BLACKOUT]And I won't count Web of Shadows, because that game only had alternate costumes for the Wii version, and there weren't many to choose from anyway.[/BLACKOUT]

EDIT: Although I'm pretty certain that I'd spend most of my time wearing the TASM costume, because I love the design so much.

Yeah. That aside, I'd wear the TASM suit in game because that's what it *is* in the movie, and y'know, the game is inspired by that. I'd respect the spirit. Makes sense, eh?

Indeed.

Though, I understand why some people would not like to use the new costume. I like the costume really much, but in a way it's kinda an insult to many fans. The movies should have the essence of spidey. I know, you could say that it's acceptable because there's so many different costumes in the comics, but this is different. It's harder to make the costume different in the comics, that's why the new designs are so radically different. But when it comes to a live action costume, with minor tweaks you could still make it look totally new & fresh while at the same time being really respective to the original design

So, while I myself like the costume, I think they shouldn't have done it. With just the different costume they lost the interest of many fans and general audience. The second trailer kinda saved the situation, but not completely. Trust me, if the costume would be more like the classic costume, the movie would be so much more hyped and popular.

The new suit: some people think it's awesome, some people think it sucks, classic suit: Most people would've thought it was great and the rest would've thought it was okay. In a business perspective, was the new design worth it?

I don't get the outcry with the new suit, honestly. TDK's Batman costume is far more of a bastardization of the original design than TASM's is of Spider-Man's... and yet... people act as though he's running around in pink spandex or something. O.o

if the movie is good no one will care if the costume is rubbish - read; BB TDK

if the movie is rubbish then costume will be held up as one of the reasons the movie failed - read; SR

for the record I think batman's suit absolutely SUCKS but the movies are so good, who give a ****

Anybody who thinks a costume that has slightly deviated from the comics is a reason why the movie failed is a ****ing idiot.

But yeah, agreed on the first point. But I'm pretty sure nobody had a problem with the BB suit. It was much better, it was big and bulky, it was intimidating. TDK's suit worked with the whole "knight" and practicality thing though.

The city in Arkham was beautiful, with awesome detail, and was the perfect size for Bats. Period.

That screenshot looks cool for sure but I hope we get a reveal of some web swinging, the combat mechanics and an idea of what this Web Rush thing is all about.

I too hope the city is active with people walking the streets, cars, and plenty of side missions and street crimes to play. I will be sad if the city is empty and there are only like 3 buildings the you can go into.

I hope the city feels 'alive' as NYC does but it's difficult to have a lot of things on the screen and also have the gameplay run smoothly. I'd prefer less activity on the screen (cars, peds, etc.) than have more of that and have to deal with lag and crap.

I agree with the part about plenty of side missions. I liked the amount of side missions in AC but I'd like for there to be more.
