I'd have liked a Cassidy a bit closer to his comic book counterpart, he does look the part, but imo, the hair isn't crazy enough, I don't know.

That tease tho

When is this series set to premiere? Never read the comic but from what I've heard about it and this show I really wanna check it out.

All we know is mid 2016

Seth Rogen Tweeted it'd be May 2016 when AMC picked it up for series, but he quickly deleted it.

Rereading this series to get ready for the show. I'm so pumped.

Damn I'd much rather they made Cassidy wear his shades all he time...everything is so different. This is my first "I read the book first" adaptation and I dont know how I feel about it. Tulip could have been blonde still... I'm not sure but I hope its good.

I hate to say this...but all I saw was a billionaire playboy...not Preacher. I really wish they had cast a different actor (though I realize the issue is in my head, and likely not anything the actor did wrong...maybe he just doesn't look "messy" enough).

On second watch, it looks pretty great. I just wish the visuals were 1:1 , I don't mind about some story changes as much. I never had a proper voice for Jesse in my head, since it's hard for me to think in a Texas accent, so Cooper seems pretty good.

That was pretty terrible, even for my low expectations. My biggest problem is the tone they're shooting for, which doesn't quite work for me.

Yes that trailer was pretty cool. Dominic Cooper seems good in the role.

I'm still unsure. The trailer gave me a little hope though, so that's promising. If I can separate my love for the comic with the show, I think I'll have a much better time. If I hadn't read the book I'd probably have thought that was a pretty great trailer right off the bat.

So a buddy of my mine won't read Preacher or anything Garth Ennis because of Crossed. Is that book really that bad?

Maybe he only read the later books? The first volume, by Ennis, is an excellent story. There's some extreme stuff in it, but there's also a great couple of characters arcs, some interesting commentary and real heart to the story. The stories that followed, by different writers, vary in quality and don't come close to the original -most of them are purely shock value with little else to offer.

I'd say Ennis' Crossed certainly has some fairly extreme violence, but it's handled well. The shocking stuff is present, but it's not shoved down your throat and it's not the core of the story. The later books are very in your face about it, sacrificing anything redeemable for pointless gruesomeness.

Preacher is another book entirely, it also has plenty of violence but it's handled in a darkly comedic fashion most of the time- as opposed to the grisly nature of Crossed.
