That's ****ing stupid. Harass the fans of your show because you totally messed up the finale and now you know more people will be willing to get spoiled than bother watching your season premiere.

“After two years, AMC finally reached out to us! But it wasn’t a request not to post any info about the Lucille Victim or any type of friendly attempt at compromise, it was a cease and desist and a threat of a lawsuit by AMC Holdings, LLC’s attorney, Dennis Wilson. They say we can’t make any type of prediction about the Lucille Victim,” they wrote.

[...]

Whether the threats have any legal basis will probably never be known for sure but in the meantime The Spoiling Dead crew are having a pretty awful time of it. As a result they’ve decided not to take any chances.

“AMC has been harassing us for four days now by contacting our homes, our family members and our employers; even posting on this page and personal social media accounts. We are fans of this show just like you and aren’t a commercial operation that makes profit. We have families and careers to think about,” they explain.

“After consultation with our legal counsel, we have responded to AMC that the TSDF staff will not be posting our prediction on who gets Lucilled on any of our outlets.”

They need new counsel. AMC's cease and desist was a scare tactic. It is a letter that takes 10 minutes to write but will scare the **** out of someone who is a non-lawyer. If they pushed back even a little, AMC would've dropped it. If AMC tried to litigate this, they would get laughed out of court as it is dismissed almost instantly. This was AMC trying to bully this site and they fell for it.

The going theory is it was meant more as a costly litigation tactic than anything that legally could be upheld. In other words AMC abused the threat of legal action to prevent them from even discussing it for fear of expensive legal costs.

Sadly, it is not uncommon. Its why Wal-Mart never gets sued and is able to lowball settlement offers. Even the most well off plaintiff with the deepest of pockets and a plaintiff firm that has tons of resources cannot outlast Wal-Mart in litigation. Wal-Mart would use every trick in the book to drive up litigation costs, extend the litigation, etc. They would wait their opponent out. So no one touches them. AMC seems to be doing the same, which is sad.

But we know the victim already: it was the cameraman. But really, AMC taking this direction when they know that the show has screwed up and deserved the reaction it got. When Kirkman has to issue an apology in the comic book for the finale, AMC doesn't get to thumb its nose down because they and everyone involved strung along viewers and then dropped the momentum in the last 10 seconds.

I'm sorry. AMC is threatening to sue people for making predictions?

That's hysterical nonsense.

You know, something about Kirkman really irks me. Its like he is the polar opposite of Alan Moore.

Alan Moore's work could be adapted panel for panel, word for word, he would still call it **** and use "artistic integrity" or some such nonsense to justify his critiques, which ultimately boils down to him being too stubborn to accept anyone's vision but his own. In essence, he is too prideful.

Meanwhile, Kirkman has no pride and no shame. AMC could revamp the show with a twist that completely kills all the zombies and turns it into a story about vampires and Kirkman would praise the creative genius of it (and probably take credit for it, if it is successful). Kirkman gives no ****s so long as he is cashing the checks and getting all of the attention that comes with being the studio's puppet/mouthpiece.
