American Assassin

Yeah, that was a very well done trailer. O'Brien has some chops.

Eh. Keaton and Lathan always intrigue me and Brien O'Dylan was pretty good in the Maze Runner films, but this just feels like some jingoistic "Muricans are good, Middle Easterners are bad" nonsense to me.

Plus the title sounds like a bad late 80s/early 90s martial arts movie starring Michael Dudikoff or that wifebeater guy from Step-By-Step.

Yeah I didn't feel anything from that trailer. Have to see what the next trailer gives to decided if this is a skip or not.

Love Dylan O Brien

but he seems too skinny to be a believable ass kicker and he just seems too young in general.

Besides that it just looks kinda generic

He's supposed to be and look young. It's the whole premise. No one takes him seriously at first.

Well this is Mitch Rapp's origin story. It's the prequel to the all the other novels right?

So basically isn't this him still in or fresh out of college?

ah thanks

but even for an origin story he seemed a bit young. That beard looked weird on him.

But it's whatever

Is O'Brien playing Taylor Kitsch's younger self?

I started listening to the audiobook version of this book about 2 weeks ago, and I have to say I think they chose very well selecting Dylan O'Brien to play a young Mitch Rapp

New Red Band trailer is out.

I just can't buy O Brien in this role.

And the trailer made it look generic as hell. The R rating is interesting htough. I feel like most films of this type don't do that

Going by the red band trailer, Kitsch is the bad guy, and he's basically Mitch Rapp's predecessor under Michael Keaton's character.

I think it looks promising so far, and I definitely want to see it. I think O'Brien was a good choice for a younger Mitch Rapp at the beginning of his story.

That being said, not sure how well the subject matter will play to a wide audience, especially in the US. But I'm all for high quality geopolitical action thrillers, and that looks like what this is.

funny thing is, if I were casting an older Rapp for today, I would have chosen Keaton.

Can't wait to see this! 2 days!

Probably seeing this first and then checking out Mother later. I need a good R rated action flick, it's been a minute.

He knows you're watching.

Well, apparently it's mediocre. Kinda how I figured it was gonna turn out. I've seen some praise for O'Brien and Keaton and some bashing on Kitsch. That guy just can't catch a break it seems.

Yeah, it was always going to get mediocre reviews but many of the reviews do in fact praise Keaton and O'Brien, even the worst of the ones. They say the acting is more than fine, they just wish it was in a better movie.

Yeah. Apparently the first two acts are actually quite good, but it falls apart in the final act. That's a damn shame to be SO close to something solid in a really oversaturated genre only to have it all fall apart in the end. Glad to see the O'Brien love though. Guy deserves it after coming back from that accident.
