American Gladiators

According to ewrestlingnews.com

TNA wrestler Matt Morgan made his debut on American Gladiators on last week's show. He quickly defeated his opponents in the jousting event. "To say I'm excited is a huge understatement," Morgan said. "Wrestling is in my blood and TNA will always be my home - and the chance to appear on both TNA and American Gladiators is a major personal accomplishment." Also, he apparently has a TNA nickname in "The Blueprint." TNA has an article, photos and video regarding Morgan on American Gladiators, and he's referenced by that nickname. Morgan used "The Blueprint" nickname during his time Ohio Valley Wrestling, but WWE opted not to use it.

It just gets old for me. Seeing Crush everytime, and seeing the contender have zero chance. I'd like Venom or Phoenix up there some time. Jet could actually be a serious challenge too, she had a great record on Joust as a contender.

Same here. I watched the ep last night and it was sooo predictable. :sleepy: "Oh yeah, Joust...*yawn* Crush is up there again..."

They need to keep Wolf, Titan, Crush, Hellga, Toa, Justice, Venom, Rocket and Jet.

The others, including Beast, I could do without.

  And I agree with Venom about Phoenix, too. Plus, isn't Fury coming back next year? I seemed to recall that was the case due to her knee injury.

Plus, what about Siren? I think she's done well this year FWIW despite her reduced screen time.

The closest I'd seen to her being knocked off was in Season 1, the first episode, if I'm not mistaken. She was getting owned, and even went on her knees. In later episodes, that's considered a disqualifiation for the Gladiator, but in that first episode, they continued.

In the original series, I know the contender had to make an effort to get to their feet if knocked to their knees, otherwise they would be disqualified (a form of passivity). I think that same rule applied to the Gladiator as well.

That's one of the things that frustrates me about the show. IMO, Al Kaplon seems rather hesitant to lay down the law on the contenders and Gladiators. One of the few exceptions was this week's Gauntlet, where he broke up the melee between James and Militia. On the other hand, there was Jeff's Gauntlet where Justice clearly did NOT use his blocking pad to impede Jeff's movement.

I dunno about the orignal sries, but there was one ep in season 1 where Siren was disqualified straight away when she went on both knees. They're not disqualified for going on 1 knee however.

Turn down the "corn factor" and it might improve a little.

For the second consecutive week, “The Beast” Matt Morgan has secured NBC the Number 1 slot for their target demographic for their time slot.

Since his debut on July 21st, the show has seen a 20% growth in viewership in the second half hour, most importantly, the highest rated segments via the quarter hour breakdown is always the third quarter hour. This is significant growth seeing as Matt Morgan has been hyped for the first half of the show two weeks running and the second half hour when he makes his appearance, the ratings spike. More importantly, the third quarter hour is where Matt is featured with the remaining quarter hour being solely dedicated to the “Eliminator”.

“The Beast” Matt Morgan will be as dominant as ever this coming Monday for the American Gladiator’s Season Finale. In this season finale, “The Beast” will be unleashed like never before as he destroys his competition in both The Pyramid and The Gauntlet Events. American Gladiators is on NBC and will air it’s 2 hour season finale this Monday, August 4th from 8pm to 10pm Eastern.

Matt Morgan can also be seen every Thursday night on TNA iMPACT airing on SpikeTV which airs from 9pm to 11pm Eastern with an encore presentation on Saturday from 11pm to 1am Eastern.

I'm just not sold on Beast. (Maybe if he wasn't hyped up to be the second coming of Christ, I would feel differently.)

it was a good show. I hate the stupid talking and the WAY too cocky attitude, but i really like the blue contender. I know someone said that they aren't gonna become gladiators this season, but i think they should strongly consider making him a gladiator. He's obvious strong and big and fast. the gaunlet was a piece of cake for him, and he usually gets the 10s in all the events.

replace hellga with venom, and i think that gaunlet would be the ultimate fantasy for me to go through.

i think the other twin sister was hotter.

seriously...what the hell. "i'm gonna turn mine up to 11" "we turned ours up to 13"--how stupid.

agreed.

So,the series is gaining momentum? Is it still doing better than the WWE? Read a few pages back and rumors were going around that WWE was going to do something to AG. Anything up with that either?

if anything, i think it's losing momentum, although i think it has enough to spill over to the 3rd season. anything after that will be a bonus.

The ratings have been under 2.0 the last month or so.

Season finale Had better be good. I was so bored with last week's episode I turned it off after 15 minutes.

That being said, I hope AG comes back for a thrid season. With a little retooling, this show could rebound from the ratiings slump. I'm thinking:

Cut down on the cornball speeches from competitors.

Get rid of some of the weaker games like Skytrack, and that weird race across the pole thingys- They're hard to follow and just not compelliing to watch.

Get rid of the recaps for events not shown I do not want to not head over to the net to watch extra stuff!

Push Atlasphere and the other classic games to the forefront. Mix gladiators up on different games so it can get interesting. I'd love to see Hellga on Joust or Justice on the tug of war or Crush on Earthquake.

Make sure to Keep Wolf, Crush, Hellga, Jet, Justice, Beast Venom, Rocket and Titan on the main roster. these gladiators are the core of AG

Bring back Fury. I just like her. On the fence about Steel though.

Get rid of Hurricane, Panther and Zen- I like Zen, But Rocket just has more personality.

Get rid of the gimmick episodes like the Hulk ep, the twins ep, married couples, etc. It's really unessecary. AG doesn't need gimmick episodes- it's main gimmick is COMPETITION. The only reason most people watch this show is to watch chumps get owned by gladiators.

Keep the Eliminator the way it is.

NBC needs to realize this is a GAME show and let it run like a GAME Show.

Ugh, so annoying, my taping of American Gladitors kept getting interupted by weather alerts. Almost always just as events were about to start, couldn't they have at least aired the weather alerts during the talking parts.

Wonder if the show will come back, some of the retooling this season helped and I'm sure they can keep improving the show.

I so hated the "blue competitor"...he really annoyed the hell outta me..cocky s.o.b

The finale wasn't that great, compared to season one. Too much time was spent interviewing the contenders

i agree. it wasn't as exciting. maybe i was distracted doing something else...but too much fat and not enough content.

I remember watching my recording to the two hour season one finale in about 45 minutes max. There was just as much fat last season as this season.

maybe...but it could be since it was brand new, exciting, and still shiny and had the new car smell, i was more forgiving

Also, too many new Gladiators and most of them suck.
