Hi guys. While I'm not a fan of X3, I am a fan of the other movies, cartoons and many of the comic incarnations of X-Men.

I'm an amateur writer...very, very amateur to be honest lol. But like many left disappointed by X3, I channeled that frustration into writing. Most people I saw decided to try and improve on what X3 delievered by making their own X4s and beyond.

I'm a great admirer of the effort put into the works of JustABill, Boba_Fett_123, Flavio, RagingTempest, TKing, and the others here (Please excuse me if I forgot to mention anyone by name). And while no one has the exact same idea of what an X-Men movie should be, I have found several similarities on some subjects above others.

Anyway, unlike the majority of the fanfic writers I've seen who decided to write an X4 and try to adjust what they wanted to see from what X3 delivered; I instead am writing my own X3. This is a very personal story to me, like I know the others who post theirs feel about them.

In all probability I won't post my version of X3 for a bunch of different reasons I won't bore any of you with. However I take writing very seriously and I was left curious as to the opinions of true X-Men fans such as the members of this board and I was hoping to pick your brains a bit.

For all purposes my X3 is completely developed and when I say completely I mean every scene I want, in the order I want it , with a general idea of what's going to happen. I'm unsure as to how the other writers here work but personally I develop every single scene until the entire thing is done and then I actually sit down to write it.

This thing turned out huge for me, literally. But as I am still in the process of writing it I was curious as to the type of things fans of X-Men would've liked to have seen in X3 or any X-Men movie in of itself. My purpose for this is to compare it to what I came up with and see how hugely I missed the mark lol.

Anyway anyone here is welcome to contribute their opinion. There are specific things I am looking for which I'll note but any opinion on any subject is of my interest: be it characters, story, subplots, character specific stories or development, scenes and sequences, anything.

As for the specifics, what would you guys have liked to have seen with:
1) Wolverine
2) Storm
3) Rogue
4) Apocalypse
5) Nightcrawler
6) Shadowcat
7) Sinister
8) Gambit

Like I said you can post about anything, but that's who I'm looking to find the most answers about since they are the most problematic characters for me to develop altogether.

I really appreciate any feedback at all and any ideas that are great I'll ask permission to integrate or modify within my stories. Even if no one ever sees them.

Thanks for the help, sorry about the huge post, I know I yammer too much.

What I would have like to have seen:

1) Wolverine

Firstly, it wasn't his place to save Jean.
Almost everything else was okay, but that, as I think
somone else said here, should have been Cyke's place.

2) Storm

Honestly, they should've never hired Halle to begin
with. But as it's too late to complain about that,
then I'd have to say that, as lame as it sounds,
the woman could've had better lines.
The character development was good, though,
but the lines...sucked.

3) Rogue

Ah, talk about some needed character development!
And screentime!!

All I'd want is for her to be less freaking shy
and more like some actual version of Rogue.
BUT along with that, there'd have to be
an actual reason for her "sudden" personality change.
Wether she turned into something along
the lines of the fiesty, feminine, womanly
Rogue or like X:Evo's angsty version,
or even something in-between that won't
bore us to death,
would be a welcome change,
but would have to have logic
and some reasoning behind it to
make it a believeable transistion.
(IE breaking up with Bobby
at the beginning of the movie
makes sense for her to
become moody and a more
like-able character.)

4) Apocalypse

Not needed. Not yet, anyway.

5) Nightcrawler

An explanation for his sudden absence would've been nice.

6) Shadowcat

The only thing I could've asked was for her to look
her age and not like a 12 year old kid. Other then
that, make her a genius and a tech-head and she's
a well-rounded version of Kitty Pryde.
A little nod to the Kitty/Piotr pairing would've been sweet.

7) Sinister

Again, not needed at the moment.

8) Gambit

Include him. Physically. Not this "name on a computer
screen" garbage. Not "some guy who might be him in
the forest that you see if you don't blink" crap.
I want an actual, experienced actor
playing my favorite character. Even if it were
just a lousy cameo (preferably a speaking one),
that would've made me happy.
(Plus him not dying in the end, too,
of course.)

A proper accent would be a must.
The right look and presence, as well.
I really,really don't care if he weren't
taller then Wolvie, like in the comics.
As tall as him in the movie-verse would
suit me just fine. (That can be
a touchy subject with some
Gambit fans, as you may know.)

Other stuff:

Giving Moira a bigger role.

Giving Angel a bigger, better role.

Making Psylocke actually look like psylocke and not some ultra-skinny,
curve-less, punk-rock asian chick with badly styled purple hair.

Not killing off Cyclops.

Providing an actual explanation as to Jean's return and
making up some better story as to her phoenix persona.
The split personality thing is down-to-earth, but way too clich'e.
Maybe something more like the alien entity plot but without
any Shi'ar or space-travel involvement. Makes a bit better
story, I guess. More interesting, anyhow.

Jean sacrificing herself instead of being killed would've been better, come
to think of it.

Oh...

Having Jean do a little more then stand around looking scary and doing nothing for 95% of the movie.:cmad:

I mean, really. What was that ? Granted, I could care less about the
character in general, but for the movie--what's supposed to be
one of the most epic X-stories ever as a comic and a movie--it was what made the movie so pathetic in the first place.

Hope that helps and you should really consider posting your story when it's done. The only way to find out if you're good or not is to let people
read your hard work! And practice makes perfect.:yay:

I’d actually like to redo all the movies
Here’s my short list

Individual costumes, I would have muted some of the colors and put Logan in his brown and gold but otherwise leave them recognizable. Superman get’s his bright blue tights and no one laughs, I think the producers were embarrassed by the costumes and shied away from them and I don’t think they should have.

More energy than that last movie, and a more frantic pace over all, it’s supposed to be a world in crisis right?

Less youth, knock it off with making the characters I grew up with younger than me!!!

More accurate character translations. Nuff said.

The real Phoenix though I wouldn’t have chose to do the dark phoenix storyline, I’d have gone with the Apocalypse / Sinister / Summers storyline and mesh in the whole mutant acceptance thing with Xavier on one side Apocalypse on the other and Magneto as the cagey wildcard you aren’t sure is good or bad

Angela Basset as storm

Vin Diesel as Apocalypse with an altered voice (though in the end I’d want the character to be totally CG ala Davey Jones)

Iceman as a man and rouge as a woman (see above)

Made juggernaught appear exactly as he does in the comic (also CG), make him not british and Xavier’s brother again.

Someone younger and or more athletic as Magneto (has to look good in tights, something I’m sure the current magneto would appreciate)

Appearance of other X teams and non-cheesy cameos of other marvel character or events so it feels less like a story in a bubble.

Thanks Mini Wolfsbane and Weiser_Cain for your responses.

Wolf, I wasn't planning on adding characters such as Sinister or Apocalypse but I wanted a general idea of what people wanted to see from them for future reference.

Thanks for the character references, they help. Particularly Rogue and Kitty. My goal isn't simply to create amazing combat sequences, if anything that is purely secondary. My interest is specifically character development, watching them grow and change with the events that surround them.

My model for Kitty right now is a cross between what I've seen in the later comics and X-Men Evolution, I'll work in the tech thing, that's a great suggestion that will open up new venues for her.

Rogue is a bit more complicated, I'm trying to rekindle the kind of connection she started developing with Wolverine and work off that. I'm also trying to work on her relationship with Bobby. Action isn't really a problem as I have her doing plenty but the character moments give me a bit of difficulty.

Gambit's role is minor compared to most of the others, it was very tricky to work him in but it is a speaking role, he has an action sequence and you lear a little about his past and why he is where he is. However it is merely an introduction to the character to open the door for him as he'll show up as a regular later on. The appropriate dialogue is a bit tricky, so far I'm only adding a few French words here and there and trying to recall how he spoke in the cartoons.

I planned on using Moira just not here, I'll see what I can work out for her. Angel's character is hugely expanded which is weird because I thought he'd have little to do yet as I began writting him his character grew well beyond Beast and Nightcrawler.

It depends how you refer to Psylocke's appearance that you'll find likeness. My Betsy is not asian, she's the original caucasian british incarnation that was once a fashion model. I am not using the Kwannon/body swap storyline, so she will never resemble that, but I did describe her as close as possible to what she is generally drawn like.

Cyclops is my favorite character and I am hugely proud of the level of story I have come up for him. He has a huge journey through this but don't worry old slim won't buy the farm on this one.

Nightcrawler does not leave the mansion, he is a regular character through the story.

Jean is my third favorite character in X-Men, her storyline is heartbreaking yet hopeful. She has plenty to do and her moments as Dark Phoenix are terrifying. Her character is deeply explored in this story from the death of Annie Richardson that opens the Prologue, her resurrection from Alkali, the advance of loss of contro of her powersl by the manipulations of Jason Wyngarde, her psychic bond with Scott, the Phoenix Force within her, among much else.

Thanks for the kind words. One of the problems of posting, among others, is the sheer size. I'm beginning chapter seven and already I have above 110 pages. I write novel style as opposed to screenplay so describing things (Which is one of my weaker points) takes up a lot of room. All of that and I'm barely 1/6 done. I have over 80 pages worth of scenes I haven't written yet.

Thanks again.

Weiser, seeing as I babbled so much above I wanted to respond to you directly. Thank you also for the comments they are very helpful.

I can understand your points about the costumes, but I also understand why they were changed in the films. I actually like the leather uniforms they wear plus I don't feel that the characters are detracted from not having their original costumes. However I promise at least once Wolverine will be seen in his classic yellow spandex. Though not in this particular story.

My mood is dark. There is urgency but I also have to slow down the pace sometimes for character moments, these are hugely important to me. However when action kicks in, believe me I attempt to make it breathless.

I agree with the age thing. The only characters represented with the smae age are ones already established within the previous movies and the "New Mutants"; ie. Sunspot, Magma, Wolfsbane, Berzerker, etc.

Apocalypse and Sinister don't have a role...yet. However this X3 opens up a new trilogy with a new main villain. And we think exactly alike, Vin Diesel with those Riddick shiners and appropriate costume, definate Apocalypse.

While I currently have Halle in the Storm role, I always pictured African model Iman to be my ideal Storm, Angela also fit this description very well. I left Halle for purpose of continuity.

Magneto is based off Stan Lee's own opinion. My Magneto is not an evil man but he does evil things. The friendship with Xavier is heavily explored and their torn to opposing sides vehemently felt. As he stands he is convinced of the war between humanity and mutants will be their only salvation but there's a gleam of hope for change. He is the most complex character I've had to deal with and I love his villain because he isn't evil.

I'm growing Bobby and Rogue in terms of maturity. They are the frontliners to become part of the team of all the students. Colossus just graduated and is now the newest member of the team but Bobby and Rogue are next in line. Rogue has huge things coming, including a devastating tragedy in the following story.

I kept Juggernaut as Vinnie Jones, again for continuity. However he does have the same costume as the comics and he is supremely more dangerous, his intro is reminiscent of a high tech Hannibal Lecter prison, similar to the detention center he was placed into in Evolution. This will be as close to the comic Juggernaut as possible and he is Xavier's stepbrother.

I actually thought of putting other Marvel characters but I sincerely don't know how well that would fit. As it stands I have an easter egg scene in the daily bugle with J. Jonah Jameson chewing out Peter Parker for not being at the scene when a bunch of mutants destroy a New York neighborhood, again I'm only treating it as an easter egg but I'm not really sure yet.

I really appreciate all you help, thanks so much. If you or anyone else can think of ideas, suggestions or anything else whether related to characters or stories of X-Men you would have liked to have seen, by all means state what you think.
