Comics An idea for an "X-Men" Story...

Okay I just thought of this not more than 10 minutes before posting...and I wanted to share this story idea on here. Now if this has already been done (I'm not as weathered in the 'X' Universe as I am in 'Batman' or a few others) then shame on me...

But I was thinking...with all the hopes of change with Barack Obama in the white house...and all the simultaneous concerns and everything involving his Presidency and upcoming first term in office...

What about a story, or story arc, involving a known Mutant (possibly Beast) in the white house?

Does that seem too politically topical/incorrect, despite the immediate connection between politics and the "X-Men" through the years?

It just felt like fertile ground...the idea of a Mutant President, and the sheer number of questions and concerns that would raise...potential for Civil War or finally a sense of Unity...The dangers of assassination and the X-Men forced to act as an impromptu 'Secret Service' ...

Just all of the usual concerns and hype of a new President magnified ten-fold.

Again, I don't know if the comics has already touched on the idea of Mutant in office...but in this time of transition for America, I thought there'd be a good potential to touch on the issues from an 'X-verse' perspective.

I though Xavier in office would have been interesting cause it could come up he can read minds and change people's thoughts.

I'd rather go the other way and have a former superhero, maybe the thing

There are X-stories concerned about your new president and a mutant (Hank, if my momery serves me right) in White House, just probably not the ones you will be interested in, though written by a fabulous writer, they are slash fics.

It would be interesting, but I don't think it would happen. Back in 2000 there was a possibility that Senator Kelly would be elected president, but DC beat Marvel to the punch with Lex Luthor. I think that storyline is still too recent to really justify another major character holding the presidency and not seem a gimmicky rip off of that story.

introduce a new character and it turns out to be Mystique...yey or nay...

Nope wouldn't work.
Maybe far in the future, but for mutants in the Marvel Universe civil rights are pretty much at the same level they were at in our world 60/70 years ago.

The governments even still actively building massive death robots to hunt them all down.

I agree that an Ex-Superhero as president could work, though I'm not sure quite qhat it would acomplish.
