An idea i had. Would you read a series of novels based the runs of marvel titles?

Novels require a bit of an imagination, sure, but can often times include way more detail and info than a dozen comics put together. (and at a cheaper price)...

You're right. But I'm of the brand of people who don't mind keeping certain stories to their respective mediums of storytelling. I usually avoid reading comic book adaptations of any prose texts and the same goes for film adaptations of comics or novels based on the comics I read.

Like Alan Moore said (and I quote loosely here "If the story were meant to be a film, I would have made it a film originally." and I apply that to everything.

And yeah, I know we're talking about novels based on comic book characters, but I certainly know that as a creator, I create what I create specifically in the context of the medium I want those characters to be presented in. In any other medium, it'd just be...not quite right.

True but that would go against the popularity of characters like Zorro(Movies, Comics and Novels), Terminator (Movies, Television, Comics, Novels and Games), Conan (Movies, Saturday Morning Cartoon, Comics, Novels and Games), James Bond (Movies, Saturday Morning Cartoon, Comics, Novels and Games) , Dracula (Movies, Comics, Novels and Games) and Sherlock Holmes (Movies, Television, Comics, Novels and Games), all of whom have done exceptionally well in every medium they have been used in.

I find it odd when people only want to see certain genres in certain mediums. Why would you not want to play a film noir playstation game? Or watch an anime-style doc savage adventure cartoon? Or read a wolfman or terminator novel? It seems silly to limit yourself simply because you discovered the character first in one medium.

Alan Moore says that if something was made for a movie it would have been made for a movie it would have. What about TMNT then? They started as a comic but hit their stride through a movie franchise and spin-off cartoon.

No type of medium is better. Thye simply are better at some things and worse at others. Spiderman Movies deliver a more adrenaline pumping experience than spidey comics. But spidey comics are better with subtle details, long running plotlines and character interaction. A Spidey novel could work well by having that you actually fully feel for the character in moments of plight creating a far greater emotionally connection. The death of MJ in a comic panel would be shocking but what would be more shocking to the spidey fan would be being caught up in 100 pages of feeling for spidey and then discovering MJ`s dead body at the same moment spidey does and with his exact thoughts steering our emotions.

I thought the TMNT hit their stride pretty well through the comics, myself. The general public just didn't become aware of them until the cartoon.
