Haha, while I didn't have a problem with it, I can totally see where you're coming from. There were a few instances when it was pretty big. I think for the purposes of trying to make Garfield look younger the longer shaggier hair helps. For later installments (idk about ASM2 since he's still in HS for at least part of it) I think shorter, more clean-cut hair would be better, if not for anything than to show him as older and more mature

Edit: ^what Boom said

Yeah, I hear you guys, the more unkempt hair does add some youth. I was thinking the same, that a more clean cut look could make him look mature when that's needed.

Bedhead is in anyway, and Andrew rocks it well.*

*I've seen also so clean cut combed style coming back too.

I think Andrew's gonna have shorter hair this time around, what do you guys think?

Oh my, the hair discussion will RISE once more :funny:

I don't mind him keeping his hair length and style from the first movie

I'm more used to short haired Peter, but the same length will be fine too

I think the hair in your avy WallCrawler is perfect. Shorter and he'll look older than he's supposed to I think.

i want less angst in the sequel, even andrew garfield wants less angst lol. he said a few months ago that he hopes peter gets to be happier in the sequel.

but yeah; dat angst.

I think angsty Peter Parker was a problem for me in the first film anyways. Less angst would be a great thing for the sequel.

Wow, there are some pretty bad people on here.

For me, the bottom line is this...anybody that thinks Andrew's Peter is a *****e, is in the purest form, an idiot.

Andrew Garfield is the most brilliant actor I've ever seen in film...and his Peter is the most relatable person I've ever seen. He is: sweet, shy, nervous, awkward, and angry. And his whole life is based around heroic impulses for *****s sake. His dialog is so realistic that I feel like I'm watching myself in a movie.

That being said, anybody that says Andrew's Peter was "*****ey" or "unlikeable" is an unlikable *****e. I think maybe some of this nonsense comes from lack of emotional understanding...bitterness...and all around little knowledge about acting. I feel sorry for the guys on here that make good points that aren't accepted by the stubborn objectors.

-Sincerely,

A 15 going on 16 year old that feels like Peter Parker. This character means so much to me.

. . .

Calm down there, young fella. No need to insult everyone. Believe it or not there are people in the world who have different opinions than you do. Learn to deal with that fact.

Now I'm not accusing people of being *******s because they think Peter is a *****e, but most of the people in these threads that say that are generally the a**hole-ones. not saying that there aren't exceptions

I guess people get so heated over Peter's actions and words because probably out of all the superheroes, he is the one looked up to and emulated the most by kids everywhere.

That said, I think they have some work to do to show him as a much more responsible person in the sequel because he seemed anything but to me (still learning) in the origin.

Because he was.

Webb himself said that Spider-Man is "always becoming". I think anybody that thinks he doesn't understand the character should watch the movie with the director's commentary.

How comes Emma finds time to be in lots of movies but Andrew doesn't? Would I be correct tin thinking Garfield has only appeared in one movie (other than ASM) since he was announced as the new Spider-Man?

Edit: two movies Social Network/ Never let me go.

Maybe Andrew doesn't want to work on anything else right now. Maybe he's dedicated himself solely to being the character of Peter Parker. It's pure speculation though.

I also would think that Emma is a bigger star right now over Andrew; not that he isn't gaining popularity though but I'm guessing that she is getting a lot more offers for films than him.

I've seen Boy A, but saying he's brilliant in a film does not equate to him being the greatest actor on film.

He's definitely one of the greatest actors of his generation, thats for sure but its too early to say anything about "of all time".

I believe he also worked on Death of Salesman on Broadway for a time, no? Never Let Me Go is a really fantastic movie as well, Andrew is really excellent in it. There's one scene it where his acting is just so phenomenal and conveys so much emotion, really great stuff. Started the Ishiguro novel it's based on, but haven't had tons of time for reading for pleasure lately with college.

Emma has only filmed one movie since TASM - Gangster Squad. (I wouldn't count the awful Movie 43 b/c it was a small part) Andrew worked on Death of a Salesman on Broadway from January 2012- June 2012 then went straight into TASM promotion. After the TASM promotional tour, both Emma and Andrew have not worked on any new film projects. For Andrew, I really don't think it's the lack of offers, but he seems very picky with his projects and maybe he just couldn't find anything that genuinely interested him and was worth doing in the short time span he had open before jumping into TASM 2 pre-production.

I'd like to add that Movie 43 was filmed before Emma filmed Spider-Man.

I'm guessing you're talking about the getting out of the car scene? Andrew was great in that movie, and I'd kind of like to see some acting similar to that scene when it's time for Gwen to die...

I don't think you could even say that considering he's only been in less than a handful of films.

Exactly the scene I'm referring to! He just channels so much emotion through that scene, that scream just kills me every time. Amazing acting. I agree, that would fit perfectly, he definitely has the dramatic talent to pull a scene like that off perfectly. I can so easily picture Garfield nailing that scene, the subtle shift from disbelief to sheer anguish, and with a scream like in Never Let Me Go, man, has the potential to be something really special.
