The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Andrew Garfield IS Spider-Man!

Just set up the ground rolls and never deviate from them.
When Spidey is in immediate danger his spider sense goes off. The End.
But that's easier said then done.

For instance;
If a nuclear bomb is about to go off in New York then surely where ever Spidey is then his spider sense will tingle so you could be talking MILES.
So if the spider tense can deal in miles then in the sewers his spider sense would constantly be tingling because he is in proximity of the Lizard there fore when the Lizard is right next to him it would be more of the same (that's said the tingling sensation would probably more pronounced).

See, not so easy to write a clear defined spider sense. Also give the spider sense an audio AND visual cue.

But it's so much harder to make excuses for poor writing and direction that wayyyyyyy
That's not poor writing or direction.
It creates drama, if Spider-Man's spider sense went off all the time it would kill all tension because the audience wouldn't be taken by surprise. Once it went off they'd know "Well, something is about to jump out or something". Spider sense only appeared like 2-3 times in Raimi's movies, so I guess the lack of it's use there signified "poor writing and direction".

But it needs to be set off when it needs to, otherwise the idea of any consistency is at fault.

Spider-Sense is more of a kneejerk reaction than anything in terms of a real actual spider. Take for example when Flash threw that ball and Peter compulsively moved over and caught it. That's spider-sense influenced right there. Quick compulsive reaction.

I agree.

It's better if sometime's Peter misjudges where the threat is and as a result, gets in trouble.

If Peter knew where every single threat was at any given time and was able to counter that...

Eh, THAT'S lazy writing. And boring.

I think the sound cue from TASM along with the head turn is enough of a visual cue. Anything else and it risks taking us out of the movie for that moment.

Say if the threat is far away, you could have the spider sense ongoing as part of the ambient sound in the frame and have Spidey look around... as the threat gets closer, have the audio cue get louder so it's clearly distinguishable (well, louder) from the ambient sound and have Spidey become more erratic in his movements as he's trying to work out where the threat is coming from. Sort of how he was all jumpy and kept darting his head around in the sewer scene when he was on top of his giant web.

Just an idea.

I LOVED the spider-sense in Webb's films.

I thought the subtle "whisper" was great and really gave off that "tingle" that I, as a reader, associate it with. It was a great way to show it without making it overt.

Not to say that Raimi's version was bad...but it was definitely less subtle...much more like a siren if anything, and I would always picture those "squiggles" from the comics every time I heard it.

And that quick compulsive reaction needs consistency, not being shown one place and not another when it's needed. It was solid when a basketball came at him and then a football, but then it became dodgy when Peter was around as Spidey.

The inconsistancy I was talking about was mainly due to the rooftop scene. It's just weird how it activates there when Lizard is so far away. It would make his spider sense tingle all the time pretty much.

I always wanted something like when Frodo puts the One Ring on where things are distorted except for the main focuses, such as himself and a threat.

Oh, a sound is totally fine, but if they were to ever show something, I always that that idea would be pretty damn cool, lol.

That could be cool, but I wouldn't want to see it very often. But wait, weren't you complaining about the lack of creativity in the suit? Now you want them to steal visual effects from another movie?

Like someone else said, the problem with Spider-Sense on film is that to show it all the time would kill tension/surprise/flow of action, etc. What every film has done is attempted to show us enough of the Spider-Sense to let the audience know how it works, and then stop showing it - it becomes assumed that the sense goes off. Just like in the comics, they don't show it happen for every punch/attack tossed at Spidey because they don't need to. We KNOW he has Spider-Sense. We KNOW how and when it works. To make a point to show it EVERY time something happens is overkill.

I want that push/pull effect for his Spidey-Sense that a few people suggested for TASM. Forgot what it's actually called.

I wanna see Andrew rock this hairstyle in TASM3:

Any actual reason, or are you just being twatty against guys with long hair?

LOL! Twatty.

I just don't like that hairstyle, and I also don't think a teenager/kid in his early 20's should rock something that seems so 90's/early 00's.

Not even Brendan rocks that hairstyle anymore. Lmao

So this is about being hip to the style trends of the times then. How petty that that is what dictates hairstyle quality to some.

Probably wouldn't mind if you could express not liking it in a less obnoxious, egotistical way.

Also, he was as recently as 2008. Doesn't look quite as good on him as he ages though:
