yeah webb did alot of things differently in TASM, and for the most part it worked

Personally I choose TASM over SM1, but I think SM1 wins by an inch. I love the universe in Webb's more.
TASM2 has a nice meal on its plate with Electro as opposed to SM2. Visually, his combat and just his being tops Doc Ock imo.

I genuinely believe that they need to sort Peter's character out before they even deal with any kind of Peter/ Mary Jane relationship. Peter needs to understand his responsibility more and understand he cannot be frivolous in his relationship and do what he wants when he has such a gift as being Spider-Man. We were shown how much fun he can have being Spider-Man and the amount of freedom it gives him, I think it's important to show how much responsibility he must take. I think the relationships will be a part of it.

I think when he does become more responsible, only then should MJ be introduced, because she is more reminiscent of who he felt he could be, before he took responsibility. That is why he might be drawn to Mary Jane, because her sense of fun is so uninhibited and he slightly envies that but is fascinated by it, given the situation he is in. Obviously MJ is drawn to Peter because he is drawn to her personality and here is a guy who doesn't want to sexualise her, like all the other guys, but wnts to actually know who she is. I think their comic book relationship is awesome in my opinion.

Maybe Marc Webb is afraid to touch the Peter/ MJ thing because of what happened/ may happen in comic books and Spidey lore (Mephisto). Although to me and many others, Kirsten Dunst was always a non existent when it comes to the character of MJ, she ceases to exist to some. Whether or not the geek gets beauty trope is old or not, it is still a story, which is famous and was never given justice in Sam Raimi's version. If Vid, you say being feisty, vivacious and indomitable are Mary Jane traits, then don't you think it's more likely that she would be say, more womanly in stature than girlish?

I will wait to see the movie, as while I thought ASM is weak, I think TASM2 could be great. But I have to see it first before I start guessing at things.

It was overly busy and done to look arbitrarily different from the Raimi costume. But like all the '90s suits, it just doesn't have the simplicity and beauty of the Ditko suit. We always go back to the classic.

What makes MJ's character so attractive isn't the way she's drawn. It's the way she's written. She is a spunky, feisty, somewhat self-absorbed character whose most apparent traits are really just a facade to mask her inner turmoil. Shailene can deliver that personality. I can't speak for everyone, but I know that an "average" looking girl all of a sudden becomes a bombshell in my eyes if she has the right personality.

Don't get me wrong.When Woodley was first cast,I was relatively happy with it even though most people were complaining.I saw her photos on Google and thought she looked good

But in the set pictures she looked really bad,I don't know why but she didn't look half as good as she looked in the photos on google images.This is MJ we are talking,she needs to look good

And I am not someone who dissects actresses looks,I have enjoyed every female's character in comic book movies and never complained.Even Dunst looked great to me in the Raimi trilogy and I don't get why people complain that she looked ugly

And Stan Lee intended Max Dillon to be a two bit crook who wore a green and yellow outfit with a star mask. Stan Lee intended Aunt May to be a decrepit, oblivious, doting octegenarian. I'm so glad that these characters were translated exactly from comic to screen. Oh wait. They were updated and revised to reflect more realistic, layered, believable representations of these characters. The same will be done with MJ in future films, if her treatment in what we saw of TASM2 is any indication.

We don't know how Max Dillion will turn out so we cant say yet

My question as to how this aids the character or story in any way still hasn't been legitimately answered. What you suggest reduces the character to a mere sex object used as a "distraction" for Peter.

I am not asking them to cast someone who is a bombshell.If that was the case I would be asking for Megan Fox(I tortured myself to watch the Transformer movie just because of her)

I want someone looks reasonably beautiful,is talented enough and has a good chemistry with Garfield

Why was Garfield hired? What did he have under his belt other than "a couple small indie movies"? The Social Network? Yeah, and Shailene's got the Spectacular Now. This argument is beyond ridiculous.

The consensus on Dunst is she wasn't pretty enough, and that I agree with 100%.
When you think of MJ, she is meant to be drop-dead gorgeous and Dunst is not that good-looking. Plus I don't think her acting was up to par.
So many things wrong, but those are the first two that come to mind.
Plus - why does her hair colour get lighter between SM1 + 2? Just baffling.

Kirsten was absolutely gorgeous in Spider-Man 1. I really don't know what happened... maybe they did get lazy with her look in Spider-Man 2. Though she did improve again for the third film IMO.

I don't think she felt that way about SM1... I think she wanted to be there. But I do get that vibe from her in both sequels.

I kind of sensed that she was still having some fun in SM 2. By the time SM 3 came out, she was clearly not into it at all. I wonder if she finally realized just how poorly her character was being written in the script and just gave up?
